Another idea id like is paid, forcable spawns in the pvm room. You pay the fee, the room generates a random spawn from the table of options.
Even better if the paid spawns would stack on each other. That way the room could be kept tame like it is now, but those of us that miss the old 6 champ spawns could rain hell down on ourselves.

Think of the sweet shop as rented accommodation.. Temporary, never truly yours and over time, horrifyingly wastefull and expensive.
Now think of the doni house as a mortgage.. Yours, permanently, forever..
Everyone rents till they can afford a mortgage dont they?
Could even make donators more willing to sell pbucks for gold so they can be lazy and keep thier temp buffs up, meanwhile non donators can farm gold to buy pbucks from donators.. Everybody wins :D

I disagree completely drak.. If your looking at things like that then you could say the whole world of uo is pay to win.. You either loot what you want or you buy it. Anything for in game gold is fair game. When someone tries to sell in game items for bucks people dont like it but the idea of doni style bonuses (albeit to a lesser extent and temporary) for in game gold is pay to win? Hmm
If anything the already existing doni house and people like me with 666 shrouds is the pay to win aspect.. Offering a viable alternative for those who look at doni house prices and say no way not for me is the exact opposite of pay to win. It could even serve as a bridge for people to use till they are ready to donate.
Also minor bonuses like luck for doom runs or +5 stats or regens are so trifling they barely make a difference other than to make you feel better. My strength with no buffs is 327, adding 5 to that on a temporary basis wont break the game.
The bottom line is a "true" gold sink does need to be consumable, by all means add deco, but ultimately it wont cut it in the long term.

A true gold sink needs to be consumable.. items and trinkets are cool but once you get them you lock them down and wait for something new to be made.
Temporary bonuses, outside the current realms of possibility are what's needed.
For example, you set up a buying stone that accepts mil checks and gives, lets say +5 to all stats for 3 hours. you could have several of them offering different boosts like one with 1000 luck, or 50 sdi or +5 to all regens. these are nice usefull bonuses but not game breaking.
They would need to stack on top of things like potions and not be overridden by them so they are always worthwhile. (e.g. bless and potion bonuses don't stack but sweets and pies do)
Could even use sweets as the medium. we already have sweets from events that offer stat buffs that stack on top of potions.. could make a pandorian sweet shop that sells sweets with 5 more stats than the current ones offer.
you could have cheaper short lived ones that newbies can afford and expensive long duration ones for end game vets with nothing better to spend their money on.
this way any character can benefit no matter how new you are or how finished your toon is. there's always room for more stackable stats :)
this would be a true gold sink as the money disappears and the bonuses wear off after time so you keep going back to spend and top up.

iv done it 6 or 7 times.. he has 4 possible spawn locations and from what I can gather his timer is random. iv seen him 3 times in the same spot 3 days running before (ilsh) and then nowhere for a long time, but never in bucs den (though I know he can spawn there)
also he does give a pop up message in the corner like any other peerless or champ and he drops 50 pcoins and peerless crimson cincture (not guaranteed of course) :D
still fun to do though, and looks awesome

a full power player can solo anything but the styg drag without pets. And as for doni gear, well it can be used to get past some of the grind while you acquire your perfect suit but it doesn't break the game at all..
I have 8 doni properties on my shroud but if I remove it I only lose the 666 stats. my suit covers everything I could possibly need and the shroud has become simply a showpiece. yes you can pay to make your life easier but its not by any means "pay to win" as an in game suit can cater for your every need :D doni stuff just makes you extra cool

for higher end taming (if your young) go to fire isle tram and tame drakes and dragons in complete safety.. then move to stygian abyss and do the same with greater dragons.. if your young you wont even come under attack

once I was in twisted wield.. I hit my macro to shrink my shimmering hyru and carried on about my day.. then a little later when I went to unshrink it my macro couldn't find it! I searched my bag high and low as panic set in, so I ran back re-tracing my steps back to twisted and lo and behold, there he was sat on the floor shrunk like an ornament!! phew, lucky nobody got there first hehe..

Would be perfect I think if these ideas were implemented to the spellbook itself, (any spellbook) so when you equip the book you are granted bonuses like maybe overcap fast casting or extra sdi or increased heat per minute but get a penalty to bandage speed or whatever. then when you drop the book and re-equip your weapon you return to normal. (lose magery buffs but regain bandie speed)
that way theres no penalty to dexxers who just happen to have high int aswell or viceversa.. a mage would have to commit to not holding a weapon and carrying his book to get his bonuses making him vulnerable but hard hitting (like you said glass cannon)

when I cast on myself im doing average 24 damage with 3rd circle fireball.. 22 damage with 5th circle mind blast.. 44 damage with 6th circle e bolt.. 42 damage with 6th circle explosion and 62 with 7th circle flamestrike. so that makes mind blast weaker than fireball, glad to see it getting some attention :) especially as its the only cold damage spell and if you bring in an anti spam system where we have to alternate damage types mind blast will be even more usefull.
heres a quick thought on armour ignore, many will hate me for this, but think about it.. so.. ai is the daddy of specials, and fair enough, it does exactly what it says on the tin, it ignores your armour, so its worth an extra 70% damage. the problem isn't neccesarily the move itself but the spammable nature of it with large mana pools and leeches. id say rather than have it take a specific amount of mana it could be that it takes 50% of your mana no matter how much you have with a minimum limit of 30 mana, so if you had 200 mana, the first ai would take 100 and leave you with 100, the second would take 50 and leave you with 50, the third would take 25 and leave you with 25 so youd have to regen 5 mana before you had the 30 needed for your 4th ai, which would take 15 and leave you with 15. in this way it could never be spammed more than 3 times at 200 mana or 5 times at 500 mana, any mana leeches you get could allow extras to be slipped in so you could get a lucky streak but you could never guarantee being able to do it more than 3-5 times in a row without recharging your mana. using a % value means that it can still be used with low mana (30) but would be very costly if repeated from high mana.
that way it could be deadly but expensive, some thought would have to be put into using it at the right time for maximum effect.
