Title: Thanksgiving day town invasion
Post by: Keeblerboy on November 26, 2013, 10:49:56 AM
I would like to see a town overrun with Pcoin Giant Turkeys for the 27th and 28th to celebrate thanksgiving.  Maybe have a new boss spawn there once Every 3-4 hours and give us a taste of the new lands. Drops from the boss would include Thanksgiving theme Deco items.  The event would last 48 hours.  Please comment if your interested.   I know it's last minutes but I think the idea is good.

I'm British, so forgive my ignorance for not acknowledging the upcoming Thanks Giving holiday, looks like I'll have to make some new additions for Winterfest ;)

Canadian Thanksgiving was in October. I think it would be more apt to have a black friday event, where a bunch of Chuck Norris invade a town with gift bags and cause total hell.

No problem Vorspire.  Thanksgiving in the USA is a big national holiday for over eating for the most part and is a big american football day.

Saturn our UO is based out of the united states and not north Mexico.   You should have suggested an event for Canadian Thanksgiving.   :-P

Clubbing each other in Malls to save 15% on socks and Black Friday are also uniquely American traditions. I just assumed if anyone was gonna invade a town, a bunch of crazed eyes shoppers pushing shopping carts would fit the bill. ( I did Black Friday shopping in the states once and some old lady slammed her shopping cart into me and called me a c***s***** for misstepping into her way)

Ok Moonglow (trammel)
The town has been cursed, and giant turkeys are now roaming the streets freely!

The giant turkeys MAY drop leftovers from thanksgiving dinner (but now rancid)
BUT! they will with even lesser probability, drop unrancid(normal) versions of the food.
It will be harder for each day (tils sunday?) to collect the unrancid versions of the food.

Even remade the sound the turkeys make, so they shouldnt sound like a wolf =P

Might add some other food parts or decos later in, so stay tuned!

Nice Noll, thanks for stepping in on this one, I'm seriously busy at the moment.

For anyone who misses this particular event, I'll make the prizes available on the Winterfest vendors as well as additional other stuff :)

its a continous spawn of turkeys by the way... each day that goes, the lesser the chanse of getting an proper dinner set =P
Might make a few other things drop aswell tomorrow.. aswell as a seriously rancid gooe "used to be food" item? =P

Chances are alrdy pretty low, i think? Kill a 210 k hp turkey and all u get is coins. ;)

Well fun with rly rare deco aint it? =P will make it even harder to get the none-rancid version in an hour, and add something els aswell =P
maybe a monster or 2 more, some rly fermented/rancid version that u cant see what it used to be, that will become easier and easier to get (so a turkey might drop 3 versions of the foodtype, one gets harder to get, and one becomes easier to get over time.. dont blaim me, blaim the bacteries, flies and fungus)
Title: Re: Thanksgiving day town invasion

ok enough fiddling today... summary:

-remade droprates of unrancid version of the food (a tad tad harder to get now, and i do know it was hard to get from the start.. but food gets bad overtime, deal with it =P)
-added 4 new items (one more decay state of each food type, which will gradually get easier and easier to obtain)

Added 2 new monsters, mashed potatoe monster and cranberrry sauce monster.
They will drop rehued, named/engraved armor/weapon pieces with a bit self repair and exceptional status. And random magical properties like looting from a monster.. (so possibilitie to get a self repair weapon that has a elemental damage, which couldnt be aquired from other means) So the imbuing i leave to you guys if your lucky enough to find a decent piece of armor/weapon..

Also the 2 new monsters drops a rare robe each, so a mashed potatoe rare robe and a cranberry sauce rare robe...

may want to consider increasing how many r spawning city is loaded with people now n nothing to kill
Title: Re: Thanksgiving day town invasion
Post by: GM NollKoll on November 30, 2013, 03:58:03 PM
new monster -> "a grovy gravy monster"
will drop a rancid gravy and a clean gravy (but this time its the opposite, the rancid version will be the rarest.. due to its storebought and filled with preservatives =P)

Also a more common robe will drop from it.. will have (common) in its name, so noone can trick someone to believe its rare.. and be in shame when someone with the rare robe walks by =P

First of all I want to thank you again, Noll, for this great event that is more a festival than a usual and typical event. I like it very much and it looks like everyone is enjoying it, since Moonglow is never empty these days.
Well done. :)

This brings me to another idea. Talked to some guildies and also mentioned it in world chat:
Events like this should happen every 2 (or few) weeks or so, maybe lasting 2 to 4 days or even longer. Some rare/unique items, maybe also - like now - pcoins, different monsters & towns.
It's something new to do, besides the regular stuff we all do in game. I'd really love to see this.

And there is Christmas soon, so a related theme (Evil Santas*, Grinches, whatever...) would fit. ;)

If you want me to, i could copy and paste that into the suggestion or event suggestion board or let Dwarvey do this, since this is what he likes the most. :P

Tyvm for consideration^^

* We had those on Pandora some time ago.

since this should end v v soon.. should i
a: make a script that makes all spawners stop in about 10-12h from now:ish
or
b: make a lever, completly out there in the open, that will, when pulled.. close down all spawners after around 30-60min..  (and if noone pulled it, i will close it down tomorrow when i get the chanse).. but i will make warning signs around the lever, telling people not to pull it :3

edit: ill choose b.. since its hilarious =P.. and evil

edit2: ended by SilverSerpent, had a few issues with the lever, but it was pulled as fast as he saw it =P

Ok... if anyone is interested.. here comes the dropchanses (roughly from my memory)

Day 1: only had 4 different foodtypes (turkey, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce :
1% clean, 10% rancid

Day 2: think i added Gravy, Robe (rare, cranberry & mashed potatoes), Robe (common, gravy), and random armor/weapon
Gravy: 20% clean, 2% rancid
Rare robe: 1% (this wont change, so will not mention it again)
Common robe: 30% (same as above)
Weapon/Armor: 30% (same as above)
Added a third decay state aswell, lets call it "extremly rancid" (maggots infested for turkey etc)
Which was around 5%
Lowered the chanse of getting clean food to ~0.8% (the first 4 types)

Day 3:
Gravy: 7% clean, 5% rancid
the 4 other types: Rancid 5%, extremly rancid 8%, clean 0.7%

Day 4 (which ended really early due to someone):
Gravy: 5% clean, 7% rancid
the 4 other types: Rancid 3%, extremly rancid 10%, clean 0.5%

np at all..  Woulda been funnier if silver didnt pull that lever so early on =P have a force of players protect it, when an opposing force would be threatened away from it =P..

But yea, want some feedback from all of you Pandorians..  how did you think about the rare loots etc?
Make it more valuable, something to be proud of etc.. No need to mention that it took a while to kill a turkey etc etc etc...
But i got confirmed that a full fresh food set has been gotten.. but have the 2 robes been aquired?
Did anyone get the mashed potatoe robe, or cranberry sauce robe?

I know for a fact that the Cranberry Robe was looted as I have one in my museum. If anyone has the Mashed Potato Robe, I would be interested in purchasing it for my Museum collection. Please pm me in game.

TY Noll, for the great event.

Like many have said, it was nice to have something different to do, especially when so many people have different tastes for what they like to collect, and you covered the bases excellently.

There were hard monster, easy, and midrange, amd there was deco, and weapons and armor.

I couldn't have been happier than with the couple of items I got.

As awesome as it was with the McBride necklaces, I think I got even more excited when we got the armor to find, and I especially loved my weapon. It's always been a struggle to figure out which weapon to banksit with...and now I have a permanent fixture.

I look forward to future events like this. Til then I will just continue to ignore my guildmates trying to get me to give up my stuff.

Great job!

That's why Google is your friend  :P. I'm sure I have a handful of people who will never speak to me again, but I believe if I went hunting for gold, but found silver instead...I'd still be happy. Besides I'm sure many would have ignored this event and missed out on the loads of great fun. It was just the icing on the cake,. Or gravy on the potatoes. Or sumfin.

Anyway, you did an amazing job so again thank you.
