and dont forget to put an empty vendor with tonnes of cash in his pocket and your house will never fall :]

i dislike this personally.

if you're not at least logging on every few weeks to refresh, you should be willing to accept losing the stuff in your house and move on.  it's happened to me on numerous shards over the years... probably happened to most of us.  it's the nature of the game.

and let's be literal for a second: you're advertising what's essentially an exploit of the intended system.  what's the point of idoc timers if you're explaining how to get around it?

you've got a few places protected fyi.  the ones with vendors won't fall for a looooooonng time, barring another change of housing rules.

you had another house a few weeks ago get worn down a bit... got to like somewhat or fairly worn before you refreshed it.  others all seemed fine but that one got low.  not sure but i think the timer from refresh to idoc is ~3 weeks to a month.

sorry to see you go man... that's a crappy way to quit.  i know i've lost tons on different servers to idocs, and it usually finishes me off too!

happy trails!

had to log out a few times tonight for short periods of time.  every time i log back in i'm checking my neck hoping to see the 50hps, which is how i'd know the patch went through lol

hope the testing goes well!

that's crazy talk! everyone should use ranged weps, at all times!

seriously though it's silly to complain about balance changes.  UO invented FOTM (flavor of the month) for mmos, most notably when it came to pvp balance.  this usually meant weapons.

Ya just curious if that's a weapon skill check for wrestling or archery when you have bow equipped but punch instead.  sounds like wrestling just verifying

i couldn't get razor to work either.  ended up launching in uoassist.

i don't regret it.  it's... different, but that can be a good thing after 10+ years of playing razor-styled UO.

and yea the automated functions in uoassist are more powerful, for better or for worse.  i prefer that myself.

wrestling skill check or archery?  and how about if both are using bows?

and yea, that'll mix some stuff up.  it might create havoc on those with lower pings, but at the least it'll be interesting to read [chat!

General Discussion / Re: Imbuing

yea i've struggled with runes vs rating cap, especially on weapons.  it's hard to tell sometimes if stripping an attribute will free up cap or not.  i removed a random slayer from one and nothing changed, for example.

also of note: know EXACTLY what's innate in a piece of jewelry and armor, and what's not.  the last thing you want to do is strip something innate or awesome from a unique or craftable and get no extra space out of it.

I dunno gargs and their limitations vs humans/elves, but I can give you a loose idea of the proper way to imbue.  Most notably, just realize what your valuable stats are that you need the most of (hps/stats as pvm), and stack that first everywhere you can fit it.

*First, figure out the "hard to get capped" things you need, most namely stuff like DCI.  it's hard to get capped so chances are you need that everywhere you can.  ie jewelry.

*Next, figure out which are less valuable equipment slots, such as clothing.  Put as much "cappable" stuff like LRC & tier bonus xp on clothing as you can.  Why take up a jewelry slot with LRC if you can cap it out on clothing?

*next, figure out which places are "valuable slots", or slots that take good enchants. Talisman is a perfect example.  you have very few slots to put on a talisman and TONS you can put on it, so what are your most valuable imbues?  What are things you need most as PvM?  ie if you're putting FC/FCR on your talisman you're doing it wrong... jewelry has more room and you can cap out stuff like FC/FCR there, so do it there.  Use your talisman imbues for stuff like HPs/stats and regens.  those are things you need as much as you can get of,especially hps, so load up on them.

*lastly, try to avoid putting anything but slayers and effects on weapons.  DI/ssi/resists are all wasted slots on weapons.  remove them and put them on jewelry or something but don't waste weapon imbues on crap like DI when you can cap that out elsewhere.

Use two resources to figure out before hand whether you should put an imbue in a particular slot:

1) bottom of this breaks down what can go where: http://www.pandorauo.com/wiki/index.php?n=TrainingRoom.ImbuingGuide  I often use ctrl-f to search for "talisman" for example to highlight all the possible options for talismans.

2) caps, which are changing again of course: http://www.pandorauo.com/wiki/index.php?n=PandoraLore.StatAndOtherCaps  Self explanatory... use this to get your caps taken care of on less valuable imbue slots.

good luck man!  Try to get your caps taken care of on your less valuable slots and save your cool slots like quiver and talisman for the stuff you really need!

If you have an issue Cronk. You private message me personally.

I am the owner.

Thanks & welcome.

No I don't have any issue.  Unless someone stole my account or abused counselor status to grief me or something, I couldn't imagine needing to contact you for anything.  When I was talking about the horrible stuff before, it's stuff I knew well from IPY, not here.  UO existence in a place like IPY is "find the most creative way to exploit and screw over the other guy", with the community applauding particularly creative efforts, or at least adopting some in order to compete.  Griefing wasn't just a problem there, it was a constant fact of life.

Which is why I like what you do here.  What I mentioned before was aimed at the nice guys who aren't as good at putting up boundaries with people who clearly need them.  I'm sure after running a UO shard for a while that you and your staff know all about putting up stern and clear boundaries :p

If people stopped worrying about progression after cars were invented because grandpas told stories about climbing hills both ways said "you'll be fine", we wouldn't have planes.

I don't doubt it was harder back then and that it sucked, but that doesn't mean what's here today is fine.  I'm actually OK with slow and steady progress myself (hell that's half of UO), but it felt like there was more of a wall and less character development with the current system... then I got my hands on some of the few imbue PSs left on the server and instantly shot up in power.  like, lots.
