General Discussion / Factions shall know no facet!!!
August 28, 2010, 09:52:52 PM
Ive noticed that every man and his dog have faction robes on, which is cool. But none of them seem to be participating in what factions is about i.e sigils, pvp and such. They simply grab the hci/dci robe and go hunt in termur for arties where they are safer than safe.

Jar's proposition:

I propose that if you are a member of a faction that you be attackble in all facets whether it be trammel or felucca (not insula of course). This will make sure either those currently in factions for the wrong reasons will stay in and learn what factions is really about or they will leave and let those who really want to be in factions for the right reason join. Any other thoughts/ideas?

General Discussion / wraith form in pvp
August 25, 2010, 02:43:05 AM
Wraith form is great for pvm. works v well i have no problem with that :)
However can we limit the mana drain effect to just that, pvm? anyone in wraith form drains mana from every hit they do in pvp spell or melee. It totally cripples you in duels for a spell that needs only 20 skill..

Anyones thoughts differ?

Guides / Imbuing 101
June 12, 2010, 07:20:36 AM
Forenote: I enquired to staff about imbuing caps and asked if it was possible for me to make a post about these caps and general info ive found. Ive been given permission by staff to write about some of the rules, caps and things ive found

Welcome Pandorians to jar's Imbuing class 101. This is a collection of what i have learned from ingame imbuing, to share with you all in the hope that it helps out.

The basics of imbuing are already stated in the "Rune imbuing" thread, this is all about %'s (as accurate as i can get them) the intensities given by each 'hit', what mods can be added to what items, and how best get the best chances at getting the imbues you are after. However all is based on what i have personally done ingame so far.. IT MAY NOT BE 100% FACT as it is just from my experience. However i hope what i do have helps..

So what items CAN i imbue master jar?

Im glad you asked. From my knowledge these are items that CAN be imbued.
-Armour, runic or looted.
-Weapons runic or looted.
-Jewelry looted.
-Lesser tots

JUST as important are the list of items that CANNOT be imbued, these include:
-Clothing
-Talismans
-Artifacts
-Pets (duh)
-anything you cannot place on your character as a useable item.
-trees

MOST importantly, this is a list of items that can be imbued BUT SHOULD NOT BE. These will get fixed in the future, for now DO NOT attempt to imbue the following items. Im not sure what staff will do to you if you do, but it might not be pretty...
-Artifacts (without a artifact rarity rating) and GREATER tots.
-I think thats it :)

-Ok cool, so what mods can be imbued to what items?

Well, its quite easy really. Any mod that can be found on a specific type of item (armour, weapon, jewels) normally through looting or crafting (not including mods found on artifacts) can be added to the same item type through imbuing. Example:
-I can add lower mana cost to armour and jewels, but not to weapons.
-I can add hitspell to weapons, but not to armour or jewels.
-I can add mana regen to armour, but not to weapons or jewels.

-Awwww wickid! ok, so what about this... can i make like a 80 fireball, 70 harm, 100 lightning, 40 swing speed increase 200 damage increase weapon and pwn all who oppose me!?!?  aaaarrrrggghhhh?

 :?

ok.. well no. You cant. why?

Because even thought it is 'possible' to do this at the moment because the imbuing is so new, normal mod limits still apply. Confused? ill try to explain....

-Normal craftable and lootable weapons are only ever given a max of 1 hitspell and up to a maximum of 50 of that hitspell. PLEASE DO NOT IMBUE ITEMS PAST THEIR NORMAL CAPS/LIMITS. For those who are new ill try to jot a few down below:

-Hit chance increase and defense chance increase. Max 15%
-Swing speed increase max 30
-Hitspell max 50 (and only 1 per item)
-hit lower defense, attack, damage increase & all leeches and area hits max 50
-resists max 15
-lower mana cost 8%
-Any regen is 2 i think?
-stat increase 8
-hit point increase 5
-damage increase (non weapon items) 25
-spell damage increase 15.

Honestly just be sensible about the imbuing and youl be fine. I mean having a player running around with a weapon like the one above mentioned would kill in 1 hit. Where is the pvm/pvp equality and fairness in that?

-Meh.. got any pointers on how much intensities each hit gives?

Yeah sure, from my experience so far this is as close as i can give to what intensities are added. Sorry but i can only add the intensities of mods i have personally imbued. If you have added others and have an idea post em below..

-Hitpspell = around 5-20 per hit i think..
-stat increase = around 1-8.
-swing speed inc = at least 4-10.
-hit chance & defense chance increase = around 3-10

Sorry they are about the only mods ive imbued with so far...

-So what are the chances of imbuing items?

Well, this depends entirely on a few things:
-your inscription skill (mainly)
-your magery skill (not as much)
-your luck irl
-maybe if your hungry or full? (not sure about that 1 heh)

I tried imbuing around 6 items with 100 inscription and 110 magery. every item failed.. id probably rate the chances of 100 inscription + 100 magery at around 5-10% success rate of actually imbuing the item. On the other hand someone who has 120 inscription and 120 magery (and even an inscription bonus talisman) would probably have close to 60-70% success rate.
*note 120 magery can be gained from any champ spawn ingame, however 120 inscription ps can ONLY be donated for.
Sure most ppl cant get the 120 on both skills but there are players online who do and will imbue FOR you for a small fee. So other take your chances with the skill level you have, or find someone you trust and pay them to imbue for you..

Disclaimer: As  i said up top, i have been given permission by staff to write what i have written here, please take the rules i have written above seriously as they are true. IF i have put any wrong or misleading information in i apologise :)  im sure staff can edit it or put in the correct facts.
I hope this has helped you all in your quest for imbuing, if you have anything you can add please throw it in..

Best of luck with your imbues compadres!

Class dismissed..

General Discussion / Some enquiries :)
May 14, 2010, 05:36:59 AM
Gday staff your friendly neighbourhood jerry here :) I was just curious on a few matters ive been thinking of, some questions, some ideas and requests. None of them urgent or meant to put pressure on you, im just curious is all:

1) (sort of linked to #2 aswell)  Wondering if an auto pvp event is on the drawing boards? the shard has been growing incredibly fast and well, and that is pretty much with a mainly pvm gamestyle atm. I reckon daily pvp events would really boost numbers here, there are a lot of pvpers starting up here now. With rewards something like 15 pan coins to 1st place, 10 to 2nd place and 5 to 3rd? Would give pvpers a way at getting pan coins 2 :)

2) PANDORA COINS - This is gonna sound hypocritical as i am a bit of a farmer and i LOVE the sc deeds and luck deed... HOWEVER. It seems to me that there are a lot of coin mobs in game atm. I get this, as the shard is starting out and ppl need a chance to establish themselves, however out of 2 runebooks i have with coin mob locations, only around 10%-15% are ever spawned at one time. My problem with this is that there is only a handful of players that know all these spots, and i know at least a couple of these guys would be reeling in about 200 or more pan coins a day. Which means sc deed/luck deeds and other incredibly super items are easily buyable. Too many of these uber deeds in trade and it will start to ruin the economy (crafters luck hunters etc).
My fixit idea? Maybe reduce the number of coin mobs, so they will become more competitive, or maybe move majority of spawns to fel? (could make more competition? i dunno) event rewards could be pan coins aswell?. This will raise value of P coins and stop the rich getting richer and the poor getting nothing.

3) TOTS Not sure of the best fix for this one, but atm greater tots are sort of flooding the shard. The main culprit is farming of tots (yes i know im a hypocrite cos ive done this) in a particular spot, where you can easily get 10 tots in under 30 mins. Do staff see this as a problem? or not really until more ppl are hunting for tots? Only real ideas to 'fix' this i have would be other making tokuno fel rules (would still have farming of tots but also make it a pvp hotzone) or move tot drops to dancer dojo and yom mines to slow the drop rates and make the 2 tram rules.

I understand a new shard has to give the early playerbase an opportunity to grow and establish but maybe we are reaching the point where the economy is full of uber items, and a massive lack of basic gear?. Maybe we need to give things a chance to settle? I could be wrong of course not often am :P, but there is that off chance. Just jer's 2 cents again :)

General Discussion / Rough stones & imbuing
April 25, 2010, 08:47:28 PM
Howdy :)

I know the drop rate of rough stones has been considerably increased since they were implemented, but it just seems they are still a very rare drop. I know that is the whole idea, that they dont flood th shard, i was just curious if there was any chance of maybe a temporary small increase that staff could monitor for a day or 2? just to make sure it wasnt too much? I just got my first stone after about a week of mining and broke it straight away with gm inscription, 115 eval and 115 magery :(  I like the fact that they are rare, but with 3 chances of destroying them + a chance of destroying your item maybe it is too rare?

Other question i have is ive noticed atm artifacts cant be imbued, is this going to change at all in the future? Maybe they could be more easily destroyed when enhancing?

Note to everyone who uses rough stones, from what ive gathered is you can only add mods to items that can already get those mods, i.e you cant add fc/fcr or sdi to armour, and you cant add things like damage inc, mr and mana inc to jewels. I lost 2 stones trying to add mods to items that couldnt take them so thought id let yall know. If anyone else knows what mods can be added to what items maybe post here? cheers

General Discussion / Stat cap?
April 24, 2010, 04:56:54 PM
Just curious, but can i get one of the staff to explain this new stat cap to me/us?
Seems as though you cant get past 150 in any skill now, even with bonuss off jewels and items..  This wont be a permanent thing will it?

Guides / Basic Pvp styles & templates
March 19, 2010, 03:39:36 PM
Here's just a quick post for those who havent pvp'd much before and are curious about what gear/mods or style of pvp to choose. Feel free to add anything else :)

First up the 3 most popular classes of pvp are:

1) Mage (casting)

2) Dexxer (melee combat)

3) Hybrid (combination of casting and melee)

Mage

Mages would have to be the most popular pvp class on ultima online, mainly because of the variety of ways to kill, heal, escape and trap your target. However the success/skill of a mage is highly dependant on the skill of the player. Because of the speed you can cast at 4/8 faster casting and faster cast recovery, playing as a mage requires a lot of skill, a LOT of thinking and some really good hot key timing to be able to use this class to its full potential. There are a couple of types of mages i know of that ill list below:

Pure Mage: Pure mages are mages that depend entirely on their casting to get them out of all situations, whether it be offensive casting, heal casting and so on. Pure mages will usually have armour, jewel and spellbook mods like lower mana cost, mana regeneration, mana increase, spell damage increase and of course fc/fcr. If you are an experienced mage pvper it is a good class to choose.

Tank (dci) mage: Tank mages or 'dci whores' as i like to call em :) are pretty much the same as a pure mage however they prefer to have as much dci (defense chance increase) as possible, which means dexxers wont be able to hit them as often allowing the mage to cast uninterrupted for longer periods.

As this is a no skillcap server, a handful of necro, and now mysticism spells can be thrown in aswell to aid a caster in pvp.

Dexxer

Dexxing is another name for warrior/fighter. It is called dexxing on uo because dexterity is a must for any fighter as it speeds up their swingspeed and their healing. A dexxers main aim in combat is to be able to hit as often as possible, as hard as possible and as fast as possible. Popular weapon specials are infecting, mortal wound, bleed, armour ignore and more as these halt a players healing, interrupt casting and do large damage. the main mods a dexxer should have on his/her weapons/jewels/armour are swing speed increase (ssi), damage increase (di), hitspell (e.g hit fireball 40), dexterity bonus, hit chance increase (hci), defence chance increase (dci), stamina increase, and a little mana regen and lower mana cost.

Chiv Dexxer: Chivalry dexxers use chivalry to aid their dexxing, and typically have 4/8 casting mods to allow them to cast chivalry spells at full speed (as you do not need a spell channeling weapon to cast chivalry spells). However you need less than 70 magery skill to be able to cast at full speed. Chiv spells most commonly used are in pvp are divine fury, consecrate weapon, close wounds and holy light.

Bushido/ninjitsu dexxer: While you have to sacrifice a few things to become a bushdio/ninjitsu dexxer, the rewards (if used properly) are definately worth it. Bushido dexxers cannot use shields at all, and if you do use a shield with both the bushido ninjitsu skills at gm then your parry skill doesnt work at all, you will fail to parry. However if you DO have both ninj and bush skills and you do NOT use a shield, then your parry skill works just as well as a non ninj/bush dexxers using a shield. However losing a shield means you lose a possible 15 hci, 15dci and some resists all of which are vital for a dexxer. If you CAN get enough hci/dci without a shield then id recommend using these skills. Popular bush/ninj skills used for pvp are death strike (personal favourite), evasion, lightning strike and focus attack.

Hybrid:

Mage hybrid:
Hybrid mages are pretty much a mage character that uses a weapon to aid his/her casting. hybrid mages typically use a weapon with mods like hci, spell channeling, hitspell and damage increase. These weapons are useful in pvp if the mage can get a decent amount of hit chance increase on his/her suit. Mage hyrbids will often cast a combo of spells (e,g explosion, flamestrike, poison) and then finish off the combo with an armour ignore hit from their weapon. Altogether that spell, hit combo could do as much as 100 dmg or more depending on the other players resists.

Dex hybrid: Not as popular as a mage hybrid, because a dex hybrid typically has much much lower mana than any mage and needs a lot more mods on his/her suit, however still a good way to pvp. A dex hybrid will typically need as high as possible combo of the following mods: hci, dci, dexterity bonus, swing speed inc, mana regen, lmc, mana inc, resists, spell channeling (on weapon and shield) and normally 4/8 casting. Although similar to hybrid mage, a dex mage will usually use his dexxing/melee combat in pvp but has the ability to cast spells here and there while fighting and if high enough dexterity can heal faster than all other classes using healing and spell healing together.

Bushido/ninjitsu hybrid:
A bush/ninj hybrid combines dexxing, mage and bushdio/ninjitsu skills all in one to make a player with pretty much any skill, spell at his/her disposal. However this class is incredibly hard to build as you need such a large amount of mods on your suit, and at such high intensities to pull it off. If you can though, pick and choose your chosen styles from the above classes and put em together to pretty much create the most formidable pvp style there is...

Hope this helps those who are looking to start pvping, or who havent pvpd in a while get into it..
Because Pandora is a no skillcap server, it offers the most exciting pvp experience you could think of, as you have any skill and skill combination possible to use in pvp. So if you have just read all of this :)  why not choose which one you like the look of, get a few items with the mods associated with that class, make a few macros/hotkeys and start dueling! You may see a side of the game you never have before and think to yourself "what the hell have i been doing pvming and crafting all this time!?!?"... Or you may not lol.

Good luck :)

General Discussion / [POLL] Casting and special hits
March 12, 2010, 10:05:27 PM
Poll numero.... 2

If i have my armour ignore highlighted and ready to use it will be disabled upon casting any spell. This also means that while you have a spell precasted and ready to click your target, you cannot use special hits e.g if i cast greater heal and leave the cursor up ready for when you are hit to click on yourself i cannot highlight or use armour ignore/bleed etc.

The other option is to allow special hits to be highlighted from when you click on them til when you actually use them even through casting spells and while having a spell precast. Just curious to see what others think? which way they prefer?

cheers in advance :)

General Discussion / [POLL] trammel vs felucca
March 12, 2010, 07:11:34 PM
This isnt a post to put pressure on the admins lol, just curious to see what everyone prefers in what lands. I personally like it the way it is atm while everyone is still getting started and such. Hopefully could help see what the majority of the shard prefers :)

Anyway what ruleset do ppl prefer for each land?

Im a pvper at heart so i think once everyone is established my choice would be:

*(Trammel)New player town with plenty of opportunities and New player dungeons for loot, gold and skill gain so new players dont need to venture out too soon.
*Brittania Trammel facet totally removed, there is such a massive landmass on pandora already and its still pretty safe atm to hunt in all felucca locations (especially if guilded).
*Tokuno and Malas felucca rules, maybe if there is a way to extend the guard zone in umbra to reach to the outer walls instead of inner walls?
*Ideally id LOVE termur to be felucca, but seems to be good as trammel, maybe a pvp area or 2 :)  such awesome landmarks i can imagine many an intense pvp fight round there.

Anyway write down the way you would like it, could give the admins some new ideas they might like :)

p.s sorry i tried to put this in polls but cant make posts in there :)

General Discussion / artifacts, loot n luck
February 22, 2010, 11:28:59 PM
Just curious if the ML artis drops in places like bedlam are lower atm? Ive been hunting in there for quite a while now but have only seen 1 arti :(

Also just curious if gaunt loot is going to get enhanced much with the new svn? Seemed to drop similar gear to demons and dragons atm..  Have only been in gaunt once on a few runs so not sure what arti droprates are like, hopefully good :) lol.

I know this stuff is most likely going to be handled when the new svn is up i was just curious about what changes to these would be made is all.

General Discussion / Pvp board ranking system
February 19, 2010, 02:59:12 AM
Just curious as to how the ranking system works with a few questions...

1) Does it only depend on duels/events? or is it pking and killing in general that is counted aswell?

2) What must one do to get higher ranked? is it quantity if kills or defeating foes who are higher on the ranking?

3) Do defeats or deaths count against you alot?

I was just curious because i have won 4 fights against various ranked players and lost 2 but still seem to be at the very bottom of the ladder with guys that have one 1 fight and lost 1 higher up than me...

General Discussion / Small problem with new temp host?
February 11, 2010, 04:32:01 AM
It seems that you cant pm most of the other players ingame since the host has changed, and when you open your mailbox it has a total of 0 total mail. e.g 29/0 mail instead of 29/50. I can only pm one person on the list atm. i Though maybe everyone had me on ignore but someone else has the problem too. Just thought id mention it.

General Discussion / ATTN: Pandora players
February 06, 2010, 12:24:11 AM
Howdy people. Ive decided to set up a sort of 'new player' chest accessible by one and all on the shard. At the moment the chest contains a variety of lower end items e.g Luck items, pvp items, limited talismans and maybe every now and then an arti.

This idea will only work if people are humble and fair, the chest will be accessible at all times to all people. I ask that you only take what you need, and think about the other players we have here. If you like a lot if items, take a small portion of the ones you like, if a day later or so if the rest is still there then go for it. Im relying on everyone to be fair about what they take out so those who need some beginner gear can get a fair start :).

Like i said its not the greatest gear around, but will hopefully be helpful to everyone thats just starting out. For those who have those decent items clogging your bank you cant sell, throw em in there if you think someone else could make use of it...

Ill most likely throw one or two more chests in aswell if needed so things dont get too crowded.

LOCATION: Make your way to any moongate, select the Termur region then go to the 'holy city'. When you appear at the holy city moongate the chest/chests will be visible a few steps NW of the gate.

I hope it helps guys, first in best dressed i guess lol. Ill try keep it topped up as much as i can. ciao amigos!!!

P.s any problems or requests pm talented jerry.

Hey guys, is there a reason i keep getting disconnected about 20 seconds after i log in? i though you must be working on something but i can see other players are online...
