i noticed when i use the [checkpoints command that there are several interesting options on the gump:



as you can tell from the title of this thread, the one i'm most interested in is CTF.  all the other pvp games sound fun, but i believe ctf is best, and way more fun than the daily 1v1 pvp matches that happen.   it's nice team pvp fights in an enclosed environment where people don't need to worry about loss of gold and gear etc - what's not to like about it?

i have raised threads and mentioned the prospect of the addition of ctf in other topics before now, but it never seems to earn any response from staff.

what are the chances of it being implemented here?

on a no skill cap server like this, with inflated stat cap, the human racial bonuses are almost all terrible.

the best thing going for humans is that they look way better than hideous elves (why do you think shrouds of shadow are so popular here.. to hide our ugly elf hairdoos and faces).

gargoyles aren't even worth including in this comparison - they're ugly, when they fly they seem to sit slightly off-centre of the screen AND razor insists that you're poisoned when you're not.  they seem to be the choice of the inexperienced & the RPer.  best left as an imbuing alt.

so, looking at the 2 important races, let's compare their innate bonuses.

elf:
+free nightsight (ok, razor can do this too)
+higher energy resist cap
+more coloured mats from mining/lj
+harder to track
+more likely to passively detect nearby hidden players
+and the important one: +20 mana.
-UGLY

humans:
-strong back - redundant as soon as you're half-decent geared and have more str and carrying capacity than your backpack can hold.
-2hpr.  rofl, 2 hpr...  it's rubbish.  that's the equivalent of regening 1/5th of a hit point each second.  it's never gonna save your ass in a fight, put it that way.
+workhorse - get slightly more resources from each mining spot or tree.
-jack of all trades.  normally this would be a boon, but not here. it's free 20 skill points in every skill (so a human's base is 20 in everything, not zero).  doesn't stack once you start training a skill.  only useful on shards with a skillcap.
+look miles better than the other races available to play in uo.





could we maybe swap the human and elf racials around, so that everyone can play a good looking human and not grow up with an urge to wear a paper bag over their heads?

yet there are none in either location (i'm assuming they're supposed to spawn a bit like cotton does).

so as it stands, the only place to get them is from the rng drop from champs?

or is there a regular monster that drops them that i should be killing?

just one thing i noticed in maha's final list, holy knight's breastplate suggested mods doesn't include mage armour, which it sorta needs, it's a plate chest.  same goes for tunic of fire (it's chainmail).

unless the mod was intentionally left out, but that would mean no one ever uses the non-medable artis!




related to this, it seems that the gas chamber in the near side of doom, where you farm bones for gold skulls, doesn't seem to be working here.  the gas chamber's supposed to trap you inside when you enter, fill the room with toxic gas (deadly poisons players every few seconds) and a number of monsters spawn inside based on the number of players locked in the room.  can't get back out until all the mobs are dead.  i'm drawing attention to this mostly because traditionally, it's the best/quickest/easiest way to farm demon bones to get a gold skull to go to the gauntlet.   (gas chamber is at 41, 24 N, 67, 52 W.)

i sure wouldn't want to get trapped in there with someone like coeur, mind you..

i've brought a couple of mates to the server within the last 10 days or so, can they do this new-fangled friend referral thing for me?

specifically, the tailoring bods.  i've yet to get a single lbod that would yield 105 tailoring or a spined runic sewing kit according to this chart.  i've found the blacksmithing side of things to match with tower of roses, though.

if this doesn't match up, can anyone point me to a chart that does?

i'm kronen, i've been lurking on pandora for a little over 2 months whilst mostly playing defiance aos shard, but defiance is awfully quiet and i was starting to miss evasion, so i thought i'd get playing a bit more regularly here.  trying to bring some mates with me as well

i started uo when aos was released (2003 i think) and i'm from europa shard originally.

i'm british, work 9-5 monday to friday, and man do i miss being a lazy student with all the time in the world to play!
