I really appreciate the players on this shard who put the time in to design these homes, there are quite a few of really amazing ones on this shard, unlike any I have ever seen before in all my years of playing UO.
Recently my wife has got me hooked on a cable channel that shows nothing but million dollar homes, home remodeling etc.. It got me thinking, what if some gamers put together a cable show dedicated to showing their on-line houses?..lol
Anyways, I may have to give a custom home a try sometime, I have never tried it so I would need some assistance in its construction, I am sure I would seek out Grim, La Mort and maggie for their advice before I made an attempt.....Nigel
Hehe. Well i think there ain't anything i haven't seen yet/ done with houses, i have been building these for years, and still getting some new ideas. I remember like 5 years? Ago we created a pumpkin house with dead huge bunnies walking over it, hehe was a cool Halloween. :)

While it's much better than I could do, I don't care for this one.

La Mort, i could suggest as you have now done pretty simple designs that you could try to do more complex designs, with harder deco too. This custom castle it's nothing hmm, ''Amazing'' it's more like a normal cottage with a wall. I have a challenge for you :) Try to make a castle that looks like dragons head. Trust me, everything is possible.
I get so frustrated designing houses or re-designing when I get bored of them, that I could literally pull my hair out...lol. Kudos to all of you who are so good at it :)
grim, i don't do silly designs like a "dragon's head" my style is making buildings that resemble real buildings. yea i could go with crazy stacking of cloth but i choose not to and as a result my designs don't look over clutered like some others i've seen.
My house is ready for Halloween :P Wonder if anyone found it yet?

Well, that what i imagined in my head wouldn't look silly ^^. But anyways i wonder if you have any ideas for ruined castles as i'm out of ideas for them. Or as i had my illusion ''underworld'' Castle, hehe that one was pretty funny.
The Pandorian Prison i built was cool! sadly due to budget cutbacks the Guards could not contain Jeffery Dahmer or Charlie Manson any longer and they tore the prison down :(

I took it as the idea of a ruined village was what he had in mind. And on a side note, love that thread! I think I may be redecorating a house or two this weekend with some of those design ideas.

you are absolutely right, i took that original start off design from the website. don't deny it in the least. i took that image and made it my own. the reason why i would consider myself to be good at designing houses and deco isn't that i have completely original ideas and completely original designs but it's that i take a design and try to figure out how to make it better. I've seen Grim's house before on i believe stratics and i've seen very similar optical illusions that grim uses but does that make him a bad decorator? i would say no. http://www.girlgamer.net/teeshy/castlesandcourtyards/ here is a uo decorating website that shows you how to make an aquarium using cloth. a similar technic that grim uses. what makes grim good at decoing is that he took that technic and made it his own same as me.

maybe I missed something
i totally see what lamort is talking about. if you look at just the stone building with the blue roof you'll see what he's talking about. for example, 4 windows in front of the house on the second story, house placed in the same spot in both pics, fence in front of both houses with what looks like a gate on both, a gate on the south east side of the property and thats just what i can see. i'm sure there is more that i've missed but Grim it does look like your not as original as you might describe yourself.
And here we go again, i got no idea where you get these pics but for 100% never seen that anywhere. That my design is desgined to be a underworld church lol. And only same i can see is that i got a fence in same place that this guy has, De Ja Vu man.
I think that everyone can agree that all of the Halloween houses looked great whether they are 10%, 20% or 99% original. So let's happily look ahead to more great houses to come, without arguing over which person's 'house customization tool' is larger.

Just got to ask for some wierd reason how did we jump into TheGrimReaper's house from me showing a excact same design of LaMort's Magic mind hehe. Ok i agree that halloween house has same colored roof and there's a fence not actually in the excact same place on it but otherwise it's 100% different seriously look at it closer. Oh and i found the windows....
We got on to grim's house from mine because grim said his house was 100% original and that there was no one else out there like it and i proved him wrong. personally i don't care what you guys think of my decorating or custom designs. there are alot of people that think my decorating skills are pretty good or i wouldn't have won first place and the people's choice in the halloween contest. i don't understand the confusion either because i at least never said that my houses were original. i work 14 hour days so i'm not going to waste the 3 months i've got left before i deploy worrying about what other people think. You like my houses-great, you don't- i don't care. end of subject
Not trying to be an A-Hole but remember they had no idea there was another one like that done 4 years ago. Plus yeah you did have nice imagination on the Old Hag but to me TheGrimReaper's house doesn't look anything like that one, so i find it pretty original tbh. And now i won't reply on this ever again, it's like watching trees growing who grows fastest...
LaMort, the 1000Bucks is still there when you show me a picture where's my house. And this time in 1 plot not that kind that has 3 tiles used on the other half to build a house. :-\ Or we can just stop this complaining i don't care what you do, you build someone elses house i don't care, but i hope you understand that others really did spent time and did theire best. I understand you don't have much time but still at least you could try man. Just like you did that Old Hag, imagination it's a cool thing, i'm sure no one would have figured to do that, i liked the idea of excavation side. Grim i'm too tired right now to argue anymore, so i agree to just drop it. i understand that you spent quite a bit of time on your island design and i liked that about your place. i honestly believed you were going to win the deco contest. i did actually try though with this contest, i was looking through design ideas saw that one and was like "why reinvent the wheel?" it still took a considerable time putting together the other characters, making the houses look the way they did, writing up the story etc... you can say that mine wasn't original and i'm ok with that but i hope no one thinks i didn't put effort into it. with that being said, this was one of the closest and most competitive deco contest i've had in quite sometime. Once again i would like to thank those who participated, i really liked the different houses and i actually walked around everyone of them. i have tons of websites that i use to get ideas/guidance on deco so if your interested in those just let me know. i will no reply on this post further.
I know both of you from in game and I would say you both have major talent, you should both be very proud of what you created and I cant wait to see more of both of your designs of homes in the future....
