VERY new player

Hello!

For UO I'm going by Valas. I'm completely new to UO but not MMOs. I plan on sticking with Pandora but may not play often. I get severe motion sickness from a lot of games. UO is no exception. For now it's just a little bit at a time, wait and see if my body adapts/accepts UO or not.

Why UO? For the gathering/crafting! The last MMO I played (from 08-four months ago) didn't really have anything of the sort. It was more PvM/PvP/GvG based. I played a few briefly that had crafting and some were ok. The ones that had decent crafting systems had battle systems I couldn't stand. UO seems to have a good balance from all I've read and heard. Found Pandora via google. It looked like the most promising server and has a solid wiki. From general MMO experience I find servers that have a good wiki to be well-kept.

I really don't know what to do or where to go. I did find the new player quests in New Haven though. In the meantime if anyone could direct me to a pickaxe I'd be grateful. Anywhere I can buy one? I can't do the mining quest in New Haven as I've used a skill ball for mining already. NPC won't let me do the quest. I'm not too interested in battle or PvP. If it's possible I'd rather just concentrate on gathering/crafting skills completely. Any tips would be awesome.
