Title: Epic
Post by: King Kong on February 23, 2013, 03:26:07 PM
Thinking about introducing a brand new line of "epic" artifacts.

Completely custom, and I want the players to choose them.

They would have a chance of dropping on any monster in the game very rarely. This would make all dungeons have some value. Harder the mosnter, better the chance.

Please reply here with "epic" items. Stuff anyone would want.

Format:

Type: (what is is, a ring, a helmet, what?)
Stats: (FCR, HP, etc etc)

Please be reasonable, actual items that are good, better than really any other items in the game or close to it, depending on the stats, etc. But nothing that just blows up everyone around you in 2 seconds kind of thing... You get it. :)

Thank you folks. Please reply & chat about it. I want to start making them soon.

Again these would be a rare drop. But could drop on any creature in the game. Let me know if you guys think this is a good idea or bad idea regardless. hehe.

<3

PS - Huge patch coming in we think within 24 hours.

Listen, I'm not gonna be popular but I'm gonna say this.  A more fair tweak would be to tweak a few things on the doom armor, make any doom arti weapon of a 100% elemental property.  The best being cold and fire.  If say most of the doom jewelry is good.  I use a war bracelet myself.  But adding a completely OP as that is what everyone above has listed will just imbalance the game.  People who mainly pvm are like woohoo I'm invincible to this dumb mob and I can kill it faster.  People who pvp are like wtf I just got insta killed.  Now if you need me to literally pick these apart I can do that.  I'd prefer not too though.

This keeps the realm of the weapon more realistic.  Obviously the easier u make the other gear reach stat and modifier caps the more desirable it will be.

This should be the goal not making the Armgo Ass kicking World Ender..just seriously no.  Aside from a few key things OSI has done well to balance the weapon mechanics.  There are viable reasons to use many many different weapons.  This sort of one hit wonder piece seriously threatens that.

Further,  we all know there are some absolutely rich people on the shard.  Being able to buy a full tweaked to maximum effective pandora artifact suit especially when fully imbued would make that person a virtual demigod on the shard.

IMO it opens up more worms than fun.

I think his idea opens up all the dungeons to hunting again, I mean lets face it no one hunts in any of the trammel ones anymore.
I dont really care what value the items have on them, I would be happy just finding anything unique, for me I am much more interested in Deco items than another weapon or piece of jewelry.

I listed an item because that's what he asked for, BUT.......

Let me kill a Titan and let me find his coal stove on his corpse, or an Orc and get a can of sardines and you will see me smile  ;).....Nigel

I went over the items listed, and all of them are very simular to items already in game. Nothing says these items with ever make it to game to begin with. Im sure most of us are just throwing ideas out there that fit into their dream idea of armor. But I'd give Kon some credit into realizing which would be foolish to implement, if any.
Also, if you major concern is that any suggested item could be use to imbalance pvp, than simply making 100% phys damage would largely, if not completely rule that out....
Some unique Pandora only weapons are kinda overdue the way i see it.
Title: Re: Epic
Post by: Mercathane on February 23, 2013, 06:01:44 PM
I don't think anyone is dumb.  I simply don't like the idea.  Whether or not I argue from the pvp perspective or not you already acknowledge it would create said imbalance.

I have no idea what your 100% physical damage comment means.

What I meant is that they already have unique properties being doom Artie's.  just make sure none of their damage is physical.  I said this so the weapon would be effective pvm or pvp.  Physical damage is an unwanted trait on weapons. Period.  That imbalances nothing..simply makes them desirable.

Existing doom Artie's already allow for basically the perfect suit.   Trust me I know about the "perfect" suit.  I also know there are already 2 ways to make it.

I already said my oppinion wouldn't be popular but I'm willing to play the devils advocate due to my feelings on the issue.

Any kind of unique things you think would be desirable.
Title: Re: Epic

How about new armor sets:
When all the pieces are combined they give a special
property like  damage eaters, casting focus, blood drinker, extend stealth step count (for ninjas), reduce teleport cool down timer, hit fatigue.  Would be nice to see plate, chain and even studded armor sets around that work for pvp.
They have to combine to make stat cap and if missing a piece can be augmented with normal imbued armor to make stat cap.  The bonus only comes when all pieces are combined (got to get them all!).
Tweak the Brit library reward glasses so all of them are useful. (Give people a reason to trade in all those resources) sry off topic.
Back to items, how about a slot machine so you could set up your own casino.
Maybe jewley that have a buff charge for x amount of time per day, (bonus luck, hci, dci, stats, or slayer, Don't make them random).
Mounts that can cast area effect spells (when mounted) for pvm. Epic holy knights charger (casts holy light) or Epic Swamp dragon that will cast lesser poison on mobs around you. Or epic fire steed that cast flame  strike (less damage than normal) to mobs around you, even an undead steed that can cast wither.
Wisp followers that give buffs or fend off wards like poison, curse, weaken or reflect an offensive spell.
Better footwear with stats or properties (not everyone is willing to put the effort into getting the sandals of the sea).
New stat scrolls give +1 +2 +3 over stat cap.
Um.. lets get some feedback before I go on any further.

Im finding it really hard to think of specific things, as merc said its entirely possible to make a "perfect" suit here, thats why i love it :]
Damage eaters and spell damage above 25% have no impact in pvp so anything with those on are a winner (boots would be amazing :)). I've always really liked the idea of wearing the ring of the vile for pvm but the damage eater doesnt work on it..
Extra regens are always welcome too, not too OP just extra gravy. but im struggling to think of what i could actually say i would want them on as it would mean taking off a piece of my perfect suit hehe.
How about a peerless tangle?

I'm with Nigel on this one...I'm not very good with armor, or what needs to be on it.
That said, while hunting in the dungeons I came across a plant seed that gave green thorns, or a pbuck, or some pcoins...or an epic statue, maybe a rug deed, or maybe pieces of armor that when put together... give me awesome whatevers...(lol) I would be thrilled :)

I'm always on the look out for different and unusual items!

This sounds like a wonderful idea..

Thanks for all you do :)

Perhaps tweaking the Virtue gear would be a good idea. I mean 60 is each resist may work on OSI, but here it's Vendor outfits.

Now if you take their existing setup and make it something that can actually help it just might become useful. I like the graphic effects of some of the armor sets that drop, but you couldn't possibly survive trying to use them.

There's the Virtue set, Ranger, Assasin, and I think even a Paladins suit. Add a suitable weapon and mod them and you could have some fun with it.

Is it possible to make them drop by zone rather than a world drop?

For example each piece of the set only dropping in 1 specific dungeon?
Title: Re: Epic
Post by: Thatperson on February 24, 2013, 12:55:38 PM
Simply give all the armour sets full 70 resists and allow them to all be imbued and people will customise them to suit.. like the war stuff they all have a party piece, for example greymist set has luck and self repair, leafweave has sdi and int, assassin set has dex and stealth, plate of honour has rpd and chiv. Being able to add all the regens etc afterwards is all they need.
To be frank you guys have hit the nail on the head with all the important stuff, theres no angle that cant be covered and i wouldnt dream of changing my armour as there are simply no more mods to put on except further sdi, luck, self repair and other non essential but nice to have mods.
Things like fey leggings which have 15 dci but cant be imbued would be transformed by just turning the "cant imbue" button to "can".
I'll keep wracking my brains for more interesting trinkets to suggest but everytime i think of something cool i realise it already exists in some form hehe.. you can take that as a compliment :]

I like that.

Maybe like the Virtue set when all pieces are on gives perfect stats across the board? 1 piece per dungeon to give all dungeons purpose.
Title: Re: Epic
Post by: Thatperson on February 24, 2013, 01:00:52 PM
The virtue sets in particular would need to be seriously awesome as they are an 8 piece set and require you to remove your quiver and boots.
Maybe a virtue set worn with the current cloak will be a normal set but you could create a "pandorian quiver of virtues" which when worn with the set turns it into the super pandora version :D

Are u saying ur putting an armor set in game that will give 225 all stats.  And 100% modifier caps?

Please be more specific.  The above is no good.
Title: Re: Epic
Post by: Thatperson on February 24, 2013, 01:07:28 PM
I think he means that it would cap out your [mystats in the same way that any other "perfect" suit would to make it a viable alternative with a different look
Would have to take jewelry into account
Title: Re: Epic
Post by: Mercathane on February 24, 2013, 02:09:53 PM
But my perfect suit took a lot of imbueing.  I suggest something more along the line of 70s to resists..100 lrc on full suit...broken up as I don't think they all have same amount of pieces.  I like the 1 drop per dungeon idea.  Make the drop chance increase in felluca or felluca only.  Just about everything else should have to be imbued on.  Not on there intrinsically.

When ur blanking a suit you would be happy to have lrc and resists capped.  That can be expensive to get just kitting it out.

There should be higher reward for the risk in Fel, however we need to get all the dungeons going in tram again, maybe reward the harder trammel dungeons better as well....Nigel
Title: Re: Epic
Post by: Thaggis on February 24, 2013, 02:31:32 PM
If its an 8 piece then it would need something extra to make it worthwhile, for example..

My 8 Piece suit (no Jewellery/Apron/Quiver/Clothing/Talisman) Gives me..

+28 Str +16int +16Dex 40HCi 45DCI +25SSI Which are all Non imbuable properties

once I add jewellery/clothing/tali etc.. everything else is maxed out (LRC/Resists/Reflect Physical/HCI/DCI) due to the imbuing..

If we were gonna have an item set that would be useable then its about which unimbuable properties it should have, Im not saying make it max everything out, but it does need to have stat bonuses/hci/dci at the least
Title: Re: Epic
Post by: Dwarvey on February 24, 2013, 02:59:05 PM
And keep in mind the Virtue set isn't the only suit that drops from the dungeon.

Ranger suit, possibly special properties for bow use. Say all damage converted to Chaos damage, and SSI, along with LMC, and LRC

Assasin suit, Possibly up the poison level to Lethal if full suit is worn, but only from stealth.

Paladin's plate. Special damage VS negative Karma, and possibly a Paladin's sword that dovetails in nicely.

Also make them useable by Garg chars so that if a Garg puts it on it becomes a Garg item of the same type.

This I think if done well could really enhance dungeon traffic. You'd also have to adjust some spawn rates. There's nothing more frustrating than having to dungeon hop just to find mobs. You could also put the Titans back in the bottom of Despise.

What if the blood drinker and various eaters were available as say 5-10 dollar donation items.

Property weight wouldn't need to be messed with but it would give you that one more little thing.

I know bows with 68 lightening or whatever hit way harder and more often.  Idk if it would balance or not.

I like the idea of deco items also.  Then no matter where you hunt you might get something useful. And it will not unbalance the game. So deco items could be more common. And the weopons, rings etc much much less common.

I like the statue idea. Not necessarily to drop currency, but something, even just candy! On OSI, the skull rug drops a random MiB once a week and the Rose rung drops a random seed. Would be cool to have something along the same lines but Pandora style.

...Maybe an "Epic Saturn" statue  :D
It could drop random scrolls of transcendence!

I love functional deco. How about a gargoyle statue (re-hue existing art) that cries gems once every 24 hrs, and rare gems once a week. If you dont get them daily, it doesnt cry anymore until you do - meaning you must log in daily to get them!

Maybe a greenhouse (as a container) that holds x number of plants without taking up house space!

I like the idea of deco that gives items (t maps gems wood etc) there used to be a fountain thing that made enhanced bandages. all these things dont have to give a lot so wouldnt effect game balance.

these sort of things make deco appealing to people who arnt normally into deco so extends there appeal
