Title: Imbuing - what the 'f' am I doing?
Post by: Godric on August 30, 2011, 01:16:12 PM
Hi all,

I'm confused. I've been playing a couple of weeks now and before this I hadn't played UO since before SA, so have no idea how OSI's imbuing system worked nor do I care, I understand things are different here and as such am struggling to find a guide that is suitable. And yes, I have read this guide (http://www.pandorauo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=720) which was interesting but doesn't really answer my confusion - or I missed it.

Here goes;

1: Where do I train imbuing? Other guides said NPC artificiers near the public soul forge in Royal City - I see none, I checked the Holy City as well.
2: Unravelling - what 'colour' (name) items can I unravel? Some guides say "trash loot", I'm sure a friend gave me a 'grey' item to unravel when they were showing me the interface for it. I understand clothing is not possible but metal armour with a grey name just gives me a message that it cannot be unravelled.
3: I read that an 'unravel container' option is available but I do not see this.
4: I understand standard caps apply (8% LMC, 20% LRC etc) but I'm reading conflicting stories about how to get from 0/existing value to cap and wondering if someone can quickly run this by me here. Do you increase gradually or go straight for the big one?

I'm sure I'll have a million more questions after a while, but these are my main concerns right now, most other things I can figure out through trial and error.

Thanks in advance.

~God

I have just started myself and struggled a bit.
Blue named items are a no go
White, green ect seem that you can unimbue

I make exceptioan items and they can can be unimbued and get 3.

I went to the gargoyal in Insula who is right beside the mage shop to buy at the start then worked on exceptional items to unimbue.

I use the soul forge in insula above the tailor shop.

I hope this helps a little. If not contact me and I can walk you throught the beginning steps i have taken.

Rameraz.

LOL thanks guys, I asked this two months ago. I GM'd it now but I just had to keep testing whether I would gain by unravelling or whether I had to start imbuing at certain skill levels. OSI say start imbuing around 50 I think, whereas it is 70ish here, though I started at 65.

Did you find a fast way to unravel?

No, I farmed Swoop for about 3 weeks - every night - and unravelled each item individually. Such a pain. Glad it is over, but it still wasn't as dull as taming, I mean, at least you get minor artifacts and such off of Swoop.

Damn I thought swoops was a great idea until I got smoked by 6 rotting corpses. Is this just a Holloween thing or are they always there?

Might have to speed past them, was expecting sprites or something.
Then again I have not played in many years.

Hrmm. Didn't see any rotting corpses last time I was there, but it was last week sometime I think.

Saw them this morning too.
I am talking about the area in Ish spirituality up to a little cave.
Cave has a couple spiders and a posion elemental.
Through a sparkle gate into a small wilderness area.
Get jumped by rotting corpses right away unless I run past then I see swoops.
I have a hard time killing swoops and fending off rotting corpses.

If there is another swoop area please let me know.

Thanks

One Swoop spawns in Tomb of the Kings before you enter into the Abyss. It's all by its lonesome.

Southeastern part of the dungeon which is accessed through a secret path in the main chamber.

Sorry I can't be more specific.

Ok I am missing something. My skill stopped at 50 with the items with grey, and green names. Am I doing somethign wrong or need higher end items? Or do I need to start imbuing now?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Pandora wiki. Dean wrote a whole article on imbuing and that should answer all questions.

Thank you
The imbuing guide did not have much skill gain direction but under skill gain there was good info.
Thank you again

Well I am still doing something wrong.
Skill is actually at 45 but using the skill guide on wiki I should be able to do the following
•40 - 50 - Craft plain Leather Caps and imbue with Reflect Physical Damage (citrine and magical residue) , starting at 8% and raising to 11%
At 45 skill level I have zero chance to imbue. Maybe because I am human and minus the 15% bonus.

do you add 1% on each imbue?

I can not imbue at all - says skill not high enough
Using a leather cap - not exceptional but did try exceptional too.
trying Reflect physical damage
Intesity is 6%
New value at bottom is 1
Success is 0%

That's weird.. are all things you can imbue on it 0%? (if so, it might be the gargoyle thing)

How does one change from Human to Gargoyal?

i think it can only be done by donation and perhaps pandora coins.

Still at 45 skill with zero percent to imbue.
Just tried 45 green items and had zero gain
Will now build up some red items to unravel.

Any other humans out there have the same struggle?

And yes skill is marked up lol

Unraveling some red items today went from 45-46 but still zero percent chance to imbue

K i've went trough some test and changed the wiki. It might be a pain in the beginning to gain like this but in the end its easier then osi as you will have enough mats. To cut a long story short, unravel red items untill 60-70 skill (depending on usage of queens forge and race). Then follow the method 2, as described on the wiki.
