General Discussion / Re: New Gargoyle Rares/Gear?
June 08, 2011, 01:24:49 PM
Gargs already have disadvantages besides gear.  They can't use mounts which is huge.  And its difficult to hit someone with melee because when you fly you have to hover over them at an angle to attack them.  I for one would like to see more pvp, and if boosting gargs to make them viable in pvp is going to accomplish that, I'm all for it.

Don't make it too difficult for yourselves.  Just update the SA artifacts (for gargs only) just like the Doom Artifacts were updated. As you already know, there are items that gargs can't wear like quivers, CC/Tangle, Glasses, oceanic boots, and probably sashes.  You don't necessarily need to give gargs access to these items as long as you give stat bonuses on the garg items to make them on par with the other races.  In my opinion shields need a little boost because no one is willing to give up their bonuses from bushido/ninjitsu.  If you give gargs a shield with SC no penalty, Damage Eater 20, Focus 5-10, 6 dex/int/str.  Anything less than that, and people are just gonna keep their darts and evasion, etc...

The SA bonuses would definitely encourage people to play a gargoyle.

General Discussion / Imbuing
April 03, 2011, 03:59:55 AM
Any idea when the rune chisels are going back in?  Also what about the drop rates for those ingreds that haven't dropped like Void orbs... chaga mushrooms, and essence of achievement... There are some others that drop but MUCH too infrequently.  Faery dust, silver snake skin, undying flesh, essences of singularity, diligence, direction, feeling, reflective wolf eyes...

Anyone else got something to add?

General Discussion / Re: New imbuing system
March 31, 2011, 08:29:02 PM
The reason it was changed, so that for example if you wanted 50 hit lighting, you couldn't just imbue 25 and 25... is because it more closely resembles OSI's system.  It allows you to set the value where you want it.  To raise it or lower it as you see fit.  When this imbuing system was first released it wasn't working as intended, because you didn't have to use any of the special ingredients to get maxed values on any bonus.  Obviously that was a flaw.  Now that it HAS been fixed, it wouldn't be an issue to allow imbued items to be unraveled again.  And change it back to where purple and pink items could make frags like it was originally.  It would take a lot of imbuing ingredients now to get max values on an item to raise the weight up to like 550 or so and turn it into a frag.  That sounds fair to me.
Xeen is looking into drop rates, soon he will determine what it is gonna be and also preparing a guide for this stuff.

All of the changes are great in my opinion.  The color coding is extremely useful.  The fixes that were done recently were necessary.  It was much too easy to imbue there for a while.  However, currently, its nearly impossible to get a relic frag.  You can no longer unravel imbued items.  There is no longer a quest to turn in EE for frags.  You have an extremely small chance of getting a frag from a champ spawn.  And you need 5 frags in most cases to attempt to imbue one property.  Obviously its too hard now, there needs to be a balance.  What is everyone's opinion on this subject?

General Discussion / Ideas for the donation charger
March 24, 2011, 03:40:32 PM
Another one of my gimpy ideas...
I was thinking maybe a choice between a Good and Evil mount.  The good one can spam holy light (bonus against undead possibly) and give the rider a defense bonus (damage eater possibly) when mounted.  The evil one can cast wither and give some sort of offensive bonus (battle lust possibly) to the rider.

My gimpy idea :/

Each champ has a chance to drop 1 of 6 components to form an ultimate slayer.  Individually they do nothing.  But then maybe you can do a little interesting quest to combine the pieces together.  It forms into the weapon type of your choosing... It could have:

3 of the components allow you to choose 3 slayer types.

Undead Slayer
Repond Slayer
Demon Slayer
Reptile Slayer
Demon Slayer
Fey Slayer
Arachnid
Elemental

The other 3 components add
70 DI / 50 Hit Lightning
SC / Luck 300
SSI 40 / Stam Leach 50

A 9 Mod Weapon

I agree with a lot in your post Mahavira as far as the vet players are concerned...  but I hardly think a noob could acquire the ingredients to make an adequate suit in a reasonable amount of time.

In my opinion, resists aren't a luxury, it's a necessity.  LRC isn't either... I think it would be a good idea if it was cheaper to imbue these 2 bonuses.  That way full LRC 70's resists suits could be sold for about 100k each.  A noob could save enough by voting and hunting and get a basic suit to PVE in.

I can see where Cuemif is coming from.  I don't think he was being too unreasonable.  I realize Konstantine wants to maintain the in game economy...  By making imbuing projects that have a seemingly random chance to break and for you to lose each ingredient and the item you want to imbue... you keep runic items and imbuing ingredients in high demand constantly.
I don't have a problem with that at all even at the current drop rate.  What I do have an issue with is that there isn't an option for mediocre gear.  Its just not something that is available because imbuing is so expensive... it is also time consuming to gather resources... no one could afford to squander their resources on lesser projects.  You either have junk gear, or PvP quality gear in other words.
In my opinion, Cuemif was right in the regard that it can take like 6 months of play to get a PvP suit (which is fine)... but as for newer players, I'm sure that none of them are pleased about spending 6 months in a crappy overpriced LRC pieced together suit that has no more total resists than 100 magicresists gives them.
Currently, resists are the most expensive thing to imbue... not only are the essences insanely rare, but you need to make a blank rune for them as well.  It takes a rough stone, 40 residue, 5 enchanted essence, and 10 of that particular resists essence...  That is for ONE attempt at imbuing resist, obviously you might need to hit the item you're imbuing several times.  And it could break.  In my opinion, resists have no need to be expensive to imbue... everyone should have resists.  That is why I would propose to make the essences drop 100% from the associated elemental (even a noob can farm it for themselves).  It should cost something like 25 residue and 10 elemental essence for each attempt at imbuing resists.  LRC is another property that, much like resists... is a bonus everyone should have access to, even as a noob... whether it be for skilling or hunting... It is 45 residue and 10 enchanted essence right now...  I would change it to about 50 residue total per attempt.

I would also like to see a noticeable difference between 100 imbuing and 120.  Considering how long it would take to get to 120... and how expensive that would be... there should be a clear difference.
I'm sure that MANY people will share this opinion.
