General Discussion / Re: Fishing O coins
April 04, 2012, 07:22:04 PM
Well if its your terrible luck for last 5 days, what kind of luck is it ive had for the last 2-3 months

I honestly expected someone to say "no ocoins cant be fished up" or "oh sorry i meant pearls"
And im not doing this to whine or complain, but seriously ive found zero ocoins by actual fishing ever
Until your post i didnt even know they could be fished up

So i guess my point is, if youve had 1 ocoin per week, then youre doing far better than i ever have :)

Also worthy of noting with ultima mapper, is their Latitude (east & west) coordinates are incorrect, it seems to vary smetimes you may be just 4-8 tiles out, sometimes its greater than this (so dont use it for SOS's or youll never find the chest)

Ive mentioned this a few times in IRC, but as this thread  is about the mapper, tohught it may get a wider audience

I have also sent the makers of it a bug report, tohugh im not even sure it went through, have had no response, perhaps a few of us should bug it, and it may get fixed, unlike UOAM and UOC it is at least a current program, so maybe they will fix it

Also does anyone know if the old treasure spot layer of UOAM can somehow be added to ultima mapper, or even if labels can be added one at a time?
Its really just the coordinate issue and the treasure map layer that keeps me using UOAM atm

General Discussion / Re: Fishing O coins

Ive never fished up an OCoin, or a Big Fish, I have 115 skill
I have fished up White Pearls (exchange 3 for OCoin) and i have fished up dozens, maybe hundreds of Trophy fish (the other named heavy ones) but never yet a Big Fish

So all my OCoins have either come from pearl exchange, or from kraken
And FYI, i fish a LOT, at least a few hours each day, some days many more, and have been fishing a lot for months

I guess some of us are just unlucky

Ive got around 300-400 Ocoins in those months, and bought about the same again, so in 3 months ive got now 700ish ocoins, and the thing i want to buy in that time has gone up from 4000 ocoins to 12000 ocoins, so assuming it doesnt go up again i should have those sandals in another  3 years or so (and thats assuming i buy half of those ocoins), long term goals are ok, but this is kind of ridiculous..

Oh really?
So no need to do a quest, just buy this spool thingy and of we go

Thank you very much, that explains why theres no quest npc if the quest isnt needed
Sorry i couldnt help with your questions, hope someone can :)

Cant answer for those, but would like to add to your list this one;

http://www.uoguide.com/Shearing_Knowledge

Been checking this for near 3 months (in case the npc only spawns certain times)
Have asked numerous times in IRC (even busy times when Kon & other helpfuls (Maggs) are on) but never had an answer (and been asking for up to 3 months too, even was asking before we lost global chat for IRC)
Double checked with other sources such as stratics google etc
Guessing its unique to Pandora that this npc is moved elsewhere, as ive seen rugs and such in folks houses, on vendors etc, so people have done the quests but no one wants to share

It was funnily the first (maybe only) quest i tried to do, because i spend more time decorating/customizing house than i do hunting, but cant get it done

To the OP, im hoping these quest npcs have been relocated rather than removed, doesnt seem logical/sensible they would simply have been removed, Kon is often adding content, makes no sense he would simply remove it
Anyway not much of an answer for you, but at least its a bump, maybe both our questions will be answered now

General Discussion / Re: sand mining
March 07, 2012, 10:47:01 AM
Quote from: "Konstantine"the amount of sand you can get will increase on location soon enough. But truthfully I think you're not mining it properly or at a speed that is slow. As several players mined 3k+ sand within the first couple days to be able to make the glass fukiyas. and it wasn't old sand cause all the old sand was deleted.

I will be making adjustments though :) -- I feel bad for you if it's taking that long! Not my intention

Not trying to be picky or argumentative, but can you explain to me please exactly how im doing it wrong or not fast enough?

I double click shovel, target ground, it animates 6 digs before i get a result, which is either failure or success
You cant start digging again while still digging, if you move before its finished it says youve moved too far from the spot.
So i really cant see how i can improve this, but would LOVE to know
(have also made this a Razor macro now, using Recall for large "moves" and Teleport for 8-tile-jumps, pauses all set fine, and seems to work exactly as if i were manually doing it)

Not sure how i can be doing this wrong, but clearly i am if people got 3k sand in 1-2 days, assuming they werent exploiting anyway

I realise this wasnt your intention, which is why i said above that i was and am in favour of the sandmining changes, but assuming for now that tweaks are coming thats fine, just let me know how my mining technique is so wrong, i have barely gotten 500 sand since the change, so 3k in 2 days is very desirable to me

PS i killed 3 sand vortex to try them out and none of them had sand on, this was in malas desert (if that makes a difference), so i went back to mining (this was also day 1 of the change, so maybe i missed a tweak since)

Any sandy tile will do, deserts, beaches, even some city streets (nujelm)

You also need a very HIGH tolerance to failure/boredom (though it may have been designed that we do this afk - dunno)
I have 110 mining, and fail to get sand about half the time i dig, also factor in that around half the places you mine will have been dried by others, and youll be lucky to get more than 1 or 2 piles of sand per 2-4 minutes of mining, my average seems to be about 4 sand per 15 minutes

This ironically means that potion bottles are now worth more than the potion itself, very easy to buy some regs, very time consuming to make some bottles - an hours digging gets me 15-20 bottles, how much would you want to be paid for an hours work?

So if you want to make that mirror or something, you can be looking at several hours (or even days) of mining, and then you may fail to make it... wasting half your sand..

Though it may not sound like it i do think it was a good move to have this glassblowing and sandmining mean something, but i really do think it need some serious adjustment

General Discussion / Re: Booted from IRC
February 28, 2012, 09:40:07 AM
Yes i use my ingame name - Autumnstar - i always feel those who use citizen123 or another name are trying to hide something, so they can talk like jerks in IRC without it affecting their characters reputation or something :p

Ok guess i will download a client, im not what i'd call a full time user, i really only use it when i need to ask something, wish i could be there to answer other people's questions more, since i cant have it displaying at same time im displaying my game, its nowhere near as social as the old chat system, what a shame we couldnt get it working, ah well, thanks for replies guys

General Discussion / Booted from IRC
February 27, 2012, 04:52:27 PM
Im getting booted from IRC after a couple of mins idle, whereupon i have to go into internet options, delete history and cookies etc, to get back in, only to be booted out again 2 mins later....

Kinda defeating the point of having IRC if its not usable by all, without all this hassle jsut to stay logged into it

So what am i doing wrong? Presumably everyone isnt suffering the same?

General Discussion / Re: Fishing? Is it broke?
February 02, 2012, 05:41:40 AM
No its not broken or useless
However i do recall people saying the rate of pulling up serpents is very low
Personally ive only fished for meat so far (from the shore) and i dont believe you pull serpents from shore fishing.

There seems to be a good trade of Fishing powerscrolls here on pandora, so i doubt its a useless or broken skill as people would not buy and sell the Fishing powerscrolls (ive no idea if these scrolls are obtained through fishing itself, heartwood or champion spawns though)

Theres also white pearls, which can be traded for oceanic coins, and i believe big fish can also be traded for ocoins.
There are lots of things to buy using ocoins, from decoration to useful clothing (and the promise of more being added on a sign near the docks)

So i think its far from broken/useless

I do recall someone saying sea serpents spawn in one of the old britannia dungeons (tram and/or fel) and these could be killed for nets if thats what you want the sea serpents for, but ive never gone looking myself, nor can i say for certain which dungeon it is, but i *think* it might be Wrong or Shame - thats based on my bad memory of a chat i only half read weeks ago, perhaps someone can confirm it for you

Anyway not much of a reply but it may help you realise there is a place for fishing in Pandora

The current system in Pandora does allow them too much freedom, and, as far as i can see no real punishment, however i wouldnt have written most of this if you hadnt asked for a vote on it, it could carry on as it is, i dont have a problem wityh the current system, just thought id voice my opinions (something i can rarely resist doing)

Yes murderers should live with the danger theyve put themselves in

However nothing is as simple as that, if you allow them to be attacked *anywhere* youre allowing PvP on all facets, or are they gonna be un-lootable on tram facets? If they win will they be able to loot the blue?

It kinda goes against the rulesets for each facet
Ive nothing against PvP but tram was made for PvM, Fel is for PvP.
I'd rather see them stuck in Fel facets, but that would deny them too much of PvM and Champs etc (unless of course they had alts, which is what we used to do anyway isnt it? have a red toon and a regular)

I feel its... hmm want to say wrong but no not wrong, maybe odd to blur the rulesets of the facets.
I like the idea of being able to attack reds, but deep down i dont think they should be in tram in the first place, my concession would be just to keep them out of tram towns (guards attack them on sight)

Reds should have penalties/restrictions, they should be elusive hunters and sometimes prey, they should not be banksitting at Brit hoping to be attacked, its too close to the old Noto-PK or Grey-PK (which was deliberately being grey in order that others attack you, then you kill them without getting a murder count which is fine, in Fel)

The Thing is by all means allow some penalty for reds, but it shouldnt necessarily mean PvP in trammel, restrict them to fel, but allow them free reign there (no guards, lawless towns), encourage blues to go to fel to hunt reds, some sort of reward - doesnt have to be coins or whatnot, could be titles or leaderboard type reward
What about the virtue system? i'll be honest i havent read up on it yet, it didnt exist when i last played UO, but maybe make some of the virtues only attainable by hunting reds, Valour or Justice sound likely candidates

If you just blur the rules for the facets you may as well remove tram rules, or remove fel rules.
Why not just duplicate the other facets, so there are Fel and Tram version of EACH facet, Malas, Ilshenar, Ter Mur as well as the existing Britannia & Lost Lands duplicates, sounds drastic, but this allows reds full access to every spawn, dungeon and resource, make it impossible for reds or greys to move into tram facets, encourage blues to go to fel facets much as you already have (higher yield of resources, loot too maybe?) with the addition of something else to encourage the hunting of Reds

If you blur the facet rules too much you may as well have the same rules on each facet, but have a pop-up system
" RED-dewd is trying to attack you, do you wish to allow this?"
Okay / Cancel
or
"Type Accept to allow this" kinda thing
This way you only need 1 of each facet... but its a little silly maybe
Of course then anyone who got PK'd wouldve allowed it, therefore it wouldnt be fair making someone red for it...

I also think many reds just want a red name cos its cool to be "different", make it Pink instead see if they all still think its cool :)
Perhaps offer PK Hunters a coloured name for maintaining a acceptable red kill rate - kill x amount of reds a week to have your name be purple (or something)

Red is a choice and should have penalty, they commit crimes to become red, if the penalties are too much for them they shouldnt have commited the crimes.

I think best tihng is restrict reds more, confine them to Fel, but encourage blues to go there more, this doesnt fundamentally change the rules of the facets, but does make being red a punishment, and hunting them a "virtue" and as has been said, UO is a land of virtues

Remind them that just because you meet another red this doesnt make you friends, kill each other, give some reward for red on red action too

I guess im just rambling, and not sure any of what i said makes sense to you, but wanted to share my thoughts on such a subject, no matter how disjointed and mixed up those thoughts happen to be :D

General Discussion / Skill Titles?
January 18, 2012, 07:15:00 PM
I have noticed that the skill title from my parry skill seems to be the one showing.
Despite the fact that my magery, eval int, music and a few others are the same skill level. It was also the one i maxxed last (dunno if thats relevant)

In the old days didnt the skill titles over-ride by alphabetical?
Also when i checked stratics to see if i was missing something it says you can change your visible skill title by clicking yourself and selecting something on the drop down menu, but we dont seem to have that option here.

So my question is - are there plans to have this option? or is there already some option that i havent yet discovered?
I know its a little thing, but its nice if we can have different titles showing instead of all being stuck with whatever one we have maxxed alphabetically (or maxxed last if thats the way it works)

Thats great guys thanks, i understand it much better now, and dont worry you worded it fine, at least, i understood what you meant, :)
