General Discussion / Re: Couple Noob Questions

Looks like you used her skill ball on hard gain skills which is good.

Tokuno on tuesdays!  Kill anything in Tokuno on tuesday and the more you kill the greater your chance of a special item.  You can get special items in Tokuno during the week but it has to be in the dungeon areas which are PVP.

Look at Uoguide.com The Tamer information is correct there.  Most of the info there is correct for Pandora.  Tame 2 boura's.  Find the best ones you can and use them to fight.  Together they do very well and are easily replaceable.  Learn about animal bonding, makes moving around with pets and allows you to resurect them.

Think about adding archery and Vet.  You can sick your pets on something, stand back with your bow and heal your pets using vet.  Animal Lore is a must if you are going to use pets, easy to macro.

Search this forum for animal taming info.  It will tell you what you can get and when and what to use.
I went from 2 Boura's to 2 Bake's to 2 Cold Drakes to 1 Greater Dragon to 1 Frost Dragon for a pet.  Bulls and Gaman are good to raise your skill.
If you are going to PVM look up UO sampire build.   If you are interested in PvM it is a good way to go. Make money and buy crafted armor from players, it is better than most things that drop.  Look at advanced players paper dolls and see what they are wearing.

Keep all gems and sell them to players.  Pay attention to the trade channel to see what things are going for.  Take advantage of the Young dungeon..  Start your hunting in Shame level 1 fighting Earth Elementals, kill them, get gold and gems, sell gems, improve gear, repeat.  Travel around and find good places to hunt.  There are many that are near gates.
Insure your good items so you dont loose them.
Get good armor that gives you a lot of resists,  get them all up to 70, it is possible to do for about 20k a piece of armor.  You need high resist if anything is going to hit you, stuff hits very hard on this server.

The info above really helped me out. Ill answer any question I can, I am in no way an advanced player.  Fun server, cool people.

I just remember following the instructions on the website, downloading Razor, putting in the correct server info, logging in and having my account created.

General Discussion / Lets talk Pet dragons.
October 13, 2011, 10:03:37 AM
Just recently got a Frost dragon and I am a little underwhelmed.  How much better is this than my G dragon or a really good G dragon.  While training him up his skills seem to be stuck at 100.  My Great dragon has skills around 118.  Do i need the pet scrolls to get my frost dragon past 100?

The Physical resist on my Frost dragon is 55, It is 80 on my G dragon.
My Frost Dragon has 902 hitpoints and my G dragon has 622 and yet seems tougher.

Is this just because my Frost Dragon has low resists?  Do all Frost dragons have low resists or just this one.
What about the Sea Wyrm?  What kind of stats can I expect from one?
What are the differences in damage output?
Just looking for some info on these Dragons and what they are capable of.

I would check out Tokuno on Tuesdays or the tokuno mines and citadel, they are pvp areas though.

You can buy better armor then you can find so I would just try to make some cash.  Tokuno has some good gold drops.  I have been in abyss lately and lots of stuff there drop a good amount of gold.
collect gems is a good way to make some cash as well.

General Discussion / Dual monitor setup question
September 14, 2011, 11:03:08 AM
I am rolling dual 22 inch monitors.  Currently I have UO running on one screen and I have maps, etc on the other.

Is anyone running with the play screen on one monitor and the black area for inventory etc on the other.
I have played around with options a bit but did not really spend much time on it.

Was wondering how others were using a dual monitor setup.

Hate to say it but I need a large play area, mostly for moving gems and rings around.
So tiny.

General Discussion / Re: Non-PvP Hunting

I checked out the FFA and it was a lot of fun.  Think I am going to branch out a bit.
My new donation bank box and insurance will keep me from losing items I care about.
I think what bugs people the most is the time it takes to get bandages, reagents, etc and load yourself up with the minor things that you need to hunt.  Bankbox eliminates that.  Just keep a supply in your bank and you are good to go.

I figure if you use the stones everyday that should pay for the insurance for 2 deaths.
Pretty sure there is no death penalty on this server and I don't think rez killing will be wide spread as the players on this server are a fun group.

Looking forward to exploring new areas.

General Discussion / Re: Non-PvP Hunting

I too am a PVMer and I do not really enjoy PVP.
I have been sticking to the Trammel rules areas with an occasional trip to ISH.  So if I understand correctly if I hunt in Sanctuary Trammel I will not get any of the Mondain legacy Minor artifacts like Aegis of Grace or Boomstick.  I have to go to Felucia for that?  Is there anywhere nonPVP area that spawns minor artifacts beside Tokuno on Tuesdays?
Also it looks like the moongates have lost their pvp / no pvp titles any other way to tell you are in a pvp area?
I am a little disappointed that the Tokuno dungeons are pvp seeing as the rest of Tokuno is not.
Other than that this server is great!
Maybe more guild, or order vs chaos pvp events could be done.  Maybe gargoyles vs humans vs Elves.  Or a battle for Tristan or something.  I remember a lot more organized pvp back in the day on the OSI servers, maybe I am just out of the loop.

Lesser Hiyru at 3 slots was a real let down.  Tried to team it with a Bake and it's output was subpar.  Felt like the Bake was doing better damage and actually has more HP then the Lesser H.

With 2 bake's I still get my mount which is much nicer than having to run from mobs when pulling.  I am still using the newbie LRC and one hit can take me down a third easy.
I park my pets and pull Oni, Bake, Lesser Hiyu, Tsuko wolves etc to them.  Keeps adds down.

Planning on investing in a Dragon and Nightmare just to check it out.

EQ taught me well.

I have been doing some taming and having some success.  I was wondering what groupings people are using.  I am mostly interested in PvM.  I am finding that after Boura, Raptors, and Bake it requires 3 slots for each animal tamed.  Curious what combos people are using.
This is what I have done so far.
2 lowland Bouras- 2 slots each. Lots of HP, easy to tame, hit pretty hard with 25% bonus for Pack instinct.
2 raptors - 2 slots each.  Less hp as bouras, hit about as hard as bouras but less health.  No Pack bonus,  Not as good as Boura
2 Bake - 2 slots each. - Hit pretty hard, good magic, no Pack bonus, Less HP than Boura's.  About as effective as Boura overall.

I am interested in the Lesser Hiryu as I may be able to tame it with stat boost.  I have a Ethereal ostard and I like to be on a mount to manuever.
Is it better to have 1 lesser hiryu or 2 Bake?  Should I go one Bake and one Hiryu and just go on foot?  Should i skip all that and just try to get a dragon?

Tried again last night and got the same results.  Maybe I just need to find a GM box and try it on my own.  Player made lockpicks made no difference.
#12
I will try some crafted lockpicks to see if that makes any difference.

I used a skill ball to 75 on my Treasure hunter for lockpicking and someone showed me the lockpicking room in Luna.  My problem is that i have gained no skill.  The 75 boxes say they are opened easily and the 100 gm boxes say You cannot understand how this devices works or something to that effect.  No skill gain and I never got a 100 box to open.
I trained another character to 30 and tried on the 50 boxes and did not get any skill advancement either or boxes to open.  Am I missing something here.  What I have read says at 75 i should be working on 100 boxes.
I am using a macro that dbl clicks lock pick, selects box, attempts, pause,  if box opens I use key ring to relock box, pause - loop.

I am using NPC purchased lockpicks.  Am I doing something wrong.  It seems to me that it should work.  Can I just macro on one box or do I have to alternate?

I think it will be cool. Adds more content and new things to do.
I am looking forward to it.

Things are going well.  I have a full Necro book, and Magery, Necro, spirt speak, and melee all trained up.
I used my skill ball on animal taming, animal lore and Vet.  Those seem like a pain to train up.
I have been working on the Newbie dungeon and all is going well. Working on breaking the spawns with Familiar, and animate dead.  Will play around with Taming soon.  Now just looking for new places to hunt.  Finding that Silver serpents are a pain and that Liches are much much tougher on this server than the original.
Think I need to work up my healing and Resist spells next,  Using my newbie LRC suit and things like ettins hit really hard.  Sitting around 15ac.  Going to work on getting some rings and necklaces and start to train up my elf.  I miss archery.

Are there good spots to hunt that are fairly easy to get to?
Good way to mitigate poison?
I am guessing resist spells is very important in PVM.
Having a good time and may try to recruit some of my old UO buddies.
