I was an original UO player.  Stopped playing shortly after Second Age came out.  I found this server and started playing and apparently I am doing a lot of things wrong.  I started training right away.  I am trying a Garg Necro.  I didn't know about the quests in New Haven now I dont think I can get a full necro spellbook because the GuildMaster wont give me the Quest.
Where can I get the scrolls I need?  Where should I hunt and what?, really only interested in PvM for now.  I didnt know about the newbie gear box until it was too late.  What kind of gear should I go for?
What skills should I work up to be solid?
I have been reading this board a bit and while there is a lot of good info not a lot of it make sense to me.
I am actually using throwing in combination with spells and Familiar.
Can you trade items between accounts while only one account is logged on?
Can you run two instances of UO logged into 2 differnet accounts on one machine?
There are a lot of new maps and I am interested in exploring but it is a little overwhelming.
So many changes, much more complicated now.

General info about server specific stuff would be cool to.

You can have up to 5 accts, all running from the same IP, and swaping items from one acct to another is allowed.  Best oviously if you plonk a house down, mark some runes to it, pass those to your alt accts and friend or co-owner the alt acct chars. that way you can place a locked down chest set the accsess and move items safly and securly back and forth.

Necro scrolls drop as loot much like standard scrolls, also here they can be crafted by scribes, player vendors sell full necro books from time to time try north west luna for a good player shop.

Any other bits that are new to you like all the new maps, read up on stratics.com and uoguide.com most things are the same if not use [c to ask other players. [t to buy sell or trade.

Also, there is no skill cap on this server, you can have every skill at 100-120.

I'd suggest buying a few weapons of each weapon skill and beating them till they're all at 100. Then start training magic skills like necro / magery / SS / Eval etc.

Skill gains are much faster here than on an OSI server so it will only take about 30mins per weapon skill.

Create all 5 of your accounts now because you will accumulate vet rewards after 30 days, and it will be nice to have 5 vet rewards every month.

You start with a skill ball which allows you to have 3 skills at 75. I suggest you put taming on there as a must, its still a pain in the arse to train here, so the more skill you have the better.

Have a look around the forums, there is a good skill guide here somewhere.

I'd suggest you remake your character into an elf for the mana bonus and the higher energy resistance. The jack of all trades bonus that a human receives is negated by the ability to have every skill.

Remember to insure items you dont want to lose.

Get your other accounts gathering ingots / wood / Bods etc - EasyUO dot com has good scripts for this kind of stuff.

Focus on training one character for fighting monsters etc, remember to vote every day at Insula because you get pandora coins as a reward, collect as many of these as you can, they can be used to buy nice things - you can visit the coin room using the moongate.

Hope this helps

there is a vendor in luna that sells a necromancy book for 5000 to 10000 gold. im sure you can get one cheaper somewhere else but i havent really found it yet, or just ask someone on the main channel using [c and whatever you want to say.

because there is no skill cap, you can train anything and everything you want but for starting off, i reccomend magery. you get free armor with lrc and a free full spellbook. magery has spells like healing, energy vortex, and recall/mark that will prove to be most helpful. like most skills, you can train this for free in the elemental training room. its nearby the area you start in or you can find it using the portal or by trying to ask a friendly player. here is a guide that will help you train some of your skills

not all of the things in the guide are completely correct but its useful anyhow.

i recommend using taming as one of your skills from your skill ball. the other skills are mostly up to you and whatever you consider most useful that you cannot train on your own. consider which skills you can train easily and which you cant. you will use your newbie lrc suit for a great long time unless you spend loads of money on a vendor or train imbuing (and have the mats for that matter). you can buy practice weapons at the blacksmith near the training room. there is also a new player dungeon you can go to, just walk through the blue flames in the training room and then into the cave. there you can make gold and maybe pick up some armor if youre lucky. ive also gotten useful things like bandages and sapphires from there. as someone said already, always vote. it gives you 5 pandora coins and 12500 gold every day. the casting is 4 faster casting and 8 faster cast recovery so your spellcasting can get reaaallly fast if you try to meet those conditions. it makes your heals almost instant.

Things are going well.  I have a full Necro book, and Magery, Necro, spirt speak, and melee all trained up.
I used my skill ball on animal taming, animal lore and Vet.  Those seem like a pain to train up.
I have been working on the Newbie dungeon and all is going well. Working on breaking the spawns with Familiar, and animate dead.  Will play around with Taming soon.  Now just looking for new places to hunt.  Finding that Silver serpents are a pain and that Liches are much much tougher on this server than the original.
Think I need to work up my healing and Resist spells next,  Using my newbie LRC suit and things like ettins hit really hard.  Sitting around 15ac.  Going to work on getting some rings and necklaces and start to train up my elf.  I miss archery.

Are there good spots to hunt that are fairly easy to get to?
Good way to mitigate poison?
I am guessing resist spells is very important in PVM.
Having a good time and may try to recruit some of my old UO buddies.

There is the new play dungeon which has monsters that are grouped by difficulty if you want to do it that way, but remember to make use of the training elementals.

Both those places can be found in a public moongate

you can make money at a respectable rate with just healing, anat, parry, tactics and weapon skill, with dull copper armour made by a blacksmith (has high phys resist) and beat the hell out of earth elementals on level 1 of dungeon shame.  i suggest these because you can make upwards of 40k an hour (nothing in the grand scheme, but decent for starting out) and get some gems, which are now rather valuable here as pretty much everyone needs them for imbuing.

get to 110 taming and lore asap, and get a greater dragon.  then go pwn mobs further inside shame - elder gazers on lvl 4, blood eles on lvl 5.

resisting spells does indeed help to not get poisoned so often (train it by casting the first circle magery spell, weaken, on yourself over and over for an hour or 2).  you can speed up how quickly you heal with bandages by raising your dex.  205 dex = 2 second heal (the cap).  the necromancy spell vampiric embrace also grants you immunity to all but lethal poison, as well as buffing your mana & stamina regen and causing you to leech some life back every time you damage something.  the down side is that it lowers your fire resist by something like 25, casting spells that involve garlic hurts you, and you can't drink cure potions.
