Lockpicking troube - no skill gain

I used a skill ball to 75 on my Treasure hunter for lockpicking and someone showed me the lockpicking room in Luna.  My problem is that i have gained no skill.  The 75 boxes say they are opened easily and the 100 gm boxes say You cannot understand how this devices works or something to that effect.  No skill gain and I never got a 100 box to open.
I trained another character to 30 and tried on the 50 boxes and did not get any skill advancement either or boxes to open.  Am I missing something here.  What I have read says at 75 i should be working on 100 boxes.
I am using a macro that dbl clicks lock pick, selects box, attempts, pause,  if box opens I use key ring to relock box, pause - loop.

I am using NPC purchased lockpicks.  Am I doing something wrong.  It seems to me that it should work.  Can I just macro on one box or do I have to alternate?

Just got to 95 using a 100 tinkering box and crafted lockpicks.  Don't know if lockpicks make a difference but I gained to 95.   After 95 I then had to start opening chests that spawn at the treasures around the world.  Been slow going so far after 95. it is now 97.7  a LOT of chests later.  But i gained to 95 within 2 hours or so.

I will try some crafted lockpicks to see if that makes any difference.

Tried again last night and got the same results.  Maybe I just need to find a GM box and try it on my own.  Player made lockpicks made no difference.
