Parry & Bushido Parry Guide

After listening to players wonder how things work, are calculated. I decided to put a quick post up.

Blocking with a Shield, Facts of 120 Bushido, 120 Parry
Most players are wondering, which do I use? Does parry work good, do I use just a 1 handed weapon? What about using a 2 handed weapon. Whats the difference? Well, here is the way your chance to parry is calculated (in human terms) with GM+ in both skills.

When Crunching the numbers, Your block chance with a shield, is greater when your Parry skill is far greater then your Bushido skill. If you had zero Bushido, and 120 Parry. You would have a base 30% chance to block. If your Parry Skill is Greater then 100, then you get a bonus 5%. So 120 Parry and zero Bushido would give you a 35% chance to block.

Now if you look at your parry again, with 120 Bushido and 120 Parry. You will be sitting with a 0% chance to block, then add in the 5% bonus for 100+ Parry. Your chances are now 5% chance. Then if your under the effects of evasion, and you have GM Anatomy and GM Tactics. You add 110% bonus. With the way the code rounds. You would end up with a not so great 6% Parry chance with a shield. So obviously, having 120 Parry and 120 Bushido, hurts your chances with a shield.

So with that stated. 120 Parry & 120 Bushido, only give you a 6% chance to block with a shield. 120 Parry and Zero Bushido, give you a 35% chance to block. So its your choice if you wish to raise Bushido.

Having 120 Parry & 120 Bushido grant you a 30% base block chance with a One handed weapon. While a two handed weapon offers you a 35% base block chance. Then Once again, if your under the effects of Evasion, and you have GM anatomy, GM tactics and GM Bushido. You get a 110% bonus to your blocking. So if you got all those requirements. You will have a 33% chance to block with a 1 handed weapon, and a 39% chance to block with a 2 handed weapon equipped.

I know I did not cover all the points between, or various skill levels. This is just to point out the facts for the players. Highest block rate = 2 handed weapon with with Bushido vs Parry, or shield we will say. Any who, hope this helps you guys.

hrmmm thnx gizmo ... i have to admit i'm sorely deficient in knowing how the mechanics of all the numbers work, and this helps a lot by knowing whether it's best to go one-handed vs two-handed, shield/no shield, with individual parry/bushido skill levels ... most helpful!!!
