QuoteOk Orange_Peel, I will bite. Why do you think Trammel was added?

Also, on a side note, I never once asked for more land with the Trammel ruleset, just hoping for a balance. And as for easy farming, I do my resource gathering in Felucia. If I want some adventure where I have to watch my back at all times, I will go to Felucia. If I want to just do some mindless running around killing things I hunt in Trammel based lands.

To each their own.

Well, the question I asked was rhetorical in the sense that trammel was added in after the fact. It was a major change in the game. The game existed for years without any tram and especially no insurance. The fact of the matter is the game relies on one simple principle and that's hard work pays off. This "mindless running around killing things" you speak of should not be rewarded as highly as taking on difficult monsters in unsafe environments. It's as plain and simple as that.

Now to answer your question, I think tram was implemented to give people who didn't necessarily want to experience that environment somewhere to go and be safe, but as I said before the rewards are not that great. The mere fact that it was put in years later speaks volumes about what it's intent was. The game was just never and will never be centered around trammel rule sets. They're just a byproduct of an expanding player base.

In the beginning, pre-Trammel, yes it was a PVP/griefing world.  That all changed with the introduction of Trammel.  From my recollection, Trammel was added for the housing space but primarily to eliminate the non-consensual PVP and griefing.

In the beginning, true, the game wasn't centered around the Trammel rule set but with the addition of Trammel, if not now the standard, why is it ever land added in the expansions was using the Trammel rule set?  I may be incorrect as I haven't played on the official shards since before SAbyss but I don't remember any non-consensual PVP anywhere other than Felluca.

To be perfectly honest, it really sounds like you want a true server that is pre-Trammel.  If you truly want UO the way it was back in the "glory days", there are plenty of pre-Trammel shards where you can grief as you want, without insurance and with full looting. But wanting that doesn't make anyone better than anyone else.

We will just have to disagree and enjoy a wonder shard with a great group of developers and a great community.
