Anyone have ideas for gold sinks?

About the dyes I've personally donated for them before and if you make them available by gold no one would ever donate for colors again unless certain ones were only available by donation and others were for gold. The donator prices were lowered recently to a good price. If the lower price dyes were for a gold sink that would seem reasonable.

I really like the karma/fame idea for the fact when you are tiering some weapons its way easier to use wither but of you need to go pvp fast you need your karma up asap. Real good idea doing that.

Also more slot machines giving random stuff is a good idea also. Have a gambling room that a lot of the slot machines give random imbue mats or hard things to come by seems like a great idea for a gold sink.

I love the idea of being able to  buy  high end wood/ingots also. You don't see many people scripting mining or lumber-jacking anymore and it would defiantly help with the bods dropping nice things now.

My opinion so far:

like:
- pay to get keys to premium dungeons as suggested by Tyrone
- Repair and Fortifying stones as suggested by Zaxarus
- ToT Joker deed but I would suggest a number of ToTs per One trade in such as 5 or 10 ToTs plus a gold cost for one ToT random retry - original suggestion by Zaxarus
- Out of date deco items as suggested by Drake11
- Ingots, boards and Hides as suggested by Drake11.  I really like this.
- Slot Machine idea especially used with deco items.

dislike:
- minor ToT items - makes it too easy to get full ToTs.
- Coins:P, O, etc - One quick way for new players to fund themselves.


My own ideas:
- Any vet rewards.  They really don't have much value anyway but sometimes you just want something and are out of choices.
- house basements, saw these on another shard once they are pretty cool.
- Rare colored plant seeds from the silly library quest.  These take way to long to get and I'd rather pay for them. Random type with each purchase to increase the gold sink.
- Imbue gems - you could charge a lot for these and I would still end up buying some.

Besides the idea of fame and karma deeds we've also talked about Hiding, Tracking and Detect Hidden:
As alrdy posted it seems that you can't normally train and gain beyond 100 (so you use pink scrolls or you have to buy the skill).
So why not offer pink scrolls for these three skills?

Make it not cheap, maybe between 100 and 500 k per point? So you still have to decide if you wanna buy the skill, wait for pink scrolls or spend gold on it.

One idea I recently saw on another shard was to remove LRC from the game. Regs become a steady gold sink that most characters will have to use on a regular basis.

Weekly taxes on houses is another idea i saw on a different server.

Im brand new to pandora though so I have no other suggestions until I play around in game for a bit

I particularly like Flints Idea of paying to not have to refresh houses. We can have 10 houses per account, so maybe limit it to 5 houses per account? I personally only have 2 houses that i really worry about. an 18x18 and my castle. i do own other houses, but they are really just taking up space. I would gladly pay to not have to worry about my 2 main houses.

That's understandable. If you like that line of thinking another idea is to remove or greatly reduce blessed items, so that insurance becomes more of a gold sink that everyone would use. Small change, no real effect on players gaming other than they have to pay more gold to die. Probably an increased rate of people forgetting to insure some items, which results in more gold being spent to replace them. (maybe not popular with players, but just an idea)

Maybe insurance should be based on tier level. Maybe 1000 gold per tier. Tier 1=1000, Tier 5=5000. If most of your suit is tier 5 you probably dont die much anyways but if you do die it will cost a decent amount instead of about 5k.

How about making houses cost alot more. Keep the smaller houses cheap for the newer chars but the bigger houses make them alot more.

Casino games, blackjack, craps, roulette. House always wins. Its a gold sink

The insurance is already based on the value of properties that are on items. It can easily get up to 30-50k per death, depending on how many weapons and fully tiered/imbues stuff you got on you.

To the bless deeds: People worked hard (months, years) to get the gear blessed and/or even paid pbucks (real money) for it.
