Introduction

PvP ("Player versus Player") means fighting other Players, combat between two or more Players in any area where PvP is possible. This
means all Facets under the Felucca Ruleset, all possible Battles, the Daily PvP Tournament and Duels.

PvP is not always consensual: There are areas in the game where you can get attacked by other Players anytime. These will be described
later in this Guide. Consensual PvP, where all parties agree on some PvP action, can happen anywhere where PvP is allowed. This includes
Felucca Ruleset Areas, Duels and of course several PvP Battles.

This Guide will not give you all the infos you need to "become a PvPer" or learn everything there is to know. Also it will not give you all
the possible "secret" strategies and tactics In fact this Guide will focus more on the different systems, rules and rulesets surrounding PvP and less about techniques.
This is something you can only learn by practice!

Areas with PvP

There are several areas in the game where PvP is possible, either consensual or nonconsensual. The following section will list these areas and
tell you what kinds of PvP are possible.

Casual PvP Arena

You can reach the Casual PvP Arena via Moongate -> PvP. This area is for Training, testing abilities, spells and combos or just for having fun. You
don't lose any items, don't have to pay Insurance and don't gain or lose any Field PvP Points. It is perfectly safe.

Daily PvP Arena (Daily PvP Tournament)

You can reach the Daily PvP Arena via Moongate -> PvP. This area is for the "DailyPvP Tournament". There you also don't lose any items, don't have to
pay Insurance and don't gain or lose any Field PvP Points. There is a Ranking that resets weekly. You can see it by typing [dailytopten in the game. This
Ranking is the result of all the Daily Tournament over one week. You also gain PvP Coins (see below) if you win.
The Daily PvP Tournament is a One vs One Tournament. Win all fights to get the first place!
Access the Daily PvP Tournament by typing [dailypvp once it has been announced in the game!

Duel Arenas (Duels)

You can fight other players in Duels by typing "i wish to duel" in the game, then target and click the Player you want to fight. You will automatically be
transported into a Duel Arena. Spectators can use a Gate to watch your fight.
It is perfectly safe there and you don't lose anything if you die. All you can gain and lose is points in the overall Duel Statistics you can check out at some
stones in the game, for example in Insula.

Battle Arenas (Battles)

Much similar like the Daily PvP Battles are perfectly safe PvP Tournaments, some in the "Free for All" style, others One vs One or Two vs Two and again atleast one
cooperative Mode where you fight group versus group in a Capture the Flag Mode. You don't lose anything when you die but you can lose or gain points in the overall
Battle Statistics.
There are several different Battle Modes on different maps. Check them here: Battles

Felucca and Felucca Ruleset Areas (Field PvP)

In Felucca and areas that work with the Felucca Ruleset there is the possibility of Field PvP, which means "real" and "serious" PvP:
You can get looted if you die, you can lose everything that is not Blessed or Insured, most often nonconsensual PvP is happening. There
you lose PvP Rank Points if you die, and you gain these points if you win a fight. Also you receive a PvP Coin if you win a fight!
Field PvP will be described in more detail in a later section of this Guide.

Allied and Guilded Players and PvP

Allied and Guilded Players can attack and kill each other but will not receive any rewards or points, they will also not lose any rewards or points. Insurance
though has to be paid if the death didn't happen in one of the other safe places for PvP.

Red (Criminal) Players in Trammel

Red (Criminal, Murderers) Players can get attacked in Trammel. Of course they may defend themselves.

PvP Coins

PvP Coins is one of the currencies on Pandora besides Gold, Pbucks, Pcoins and other currencies. You can go to the PvP Coin Store via
Moongate -> PvP. You find several things there to buy.

You can gain and collect PvP Coins by:
Winning in the Daily PvP Tournament
Winning a Battle
Killing another Player in Field PvP

In all cases PvP Coins will drop in your backpack!

Rewards and Rankings

There are different Ranking Systems on Pandora that are not related to each other and are separate systems. In all cases you gain points by
winning and you lose points by losing a fight.

Duel Rankings

As described before this is a Statistic based on Wins and Losses by winning and losing in a Duel against other Players. You can't buy anything for
these virtual points.

Daily PvP Rankings

As described before this is a weekly resetted Ranking of all participants in the Daily PvP Tournament. YOu can't buy anything for these virtual points.
But you can, as described, spend your PvP Coins in the PvP Coin Store.

Battle Statistics

As described this is a statistic based on all participants of the Battles. Depending on how long a season is running it will reset. While you can't buy anything
for your placements you can spend the PvP Coins.
There might be seasonal placement rewards in the future though!

Field PvP Ranking

There is a Ranking for Field PvP. Based on your wins and losses you receive points. You can see the statistics for example on a board in Luna. While you can't buy
anything for your Ranking you receive a specific PvP Title under your name, the more wins you have. This will be described later on.
Of course you can spend the PvP Coins you get per kill in the PvP Coin Store.

Felucca and the Felucca Ruleset

Basic Infos

Felucca and all areas of the Felucca Ruleset allow nonconsensual PvP. This means you can get attacked by other Players anywhere except in towns (see below).
This can include players following and attacking you while you are somewhere obtaining Keys for a Peerless, killing a Mini Champ, Champion or Boss or doing a
Champion Spawn. There are simply no restrictions when or if another Player can attack you!

While PvP and also PK ("Player Killing") is absolutely allowed and okay, some situations could considered to be "harrassment". For example if another Player
kills you over and over after you resurrected. If this happens, try to talk to the Player and settle the dispute. If this continues you might want to contact the
Staff about it, preferably King_Kon or NollKoll.
But if you provoke another Player intentionally, maybe start "shittalking" or insult him, you are basically asking for an attack - this is your own fault then.

Also [Young Players] can be attacked and killed here. However their stuff can't be looted!

Nonconsensual PvP

Attacking Players

You can get attacked anywhere in Felucca and in areas with the Felucca Ruleset except in towns (with some exceptions, see below).

Felucca and the Felucca Ruleset mean this fact: Nonconsensual PvP is allowed and possible in these areas. This means a Blue (Innocent) Player can
attack another Blue (Innocent) player, a Red (Criminal) or Grey (Criminal) Player can attack a Blue Player and the other way around, a Red (Criminal)
Player can attack another Red (Criminal) Player and so forth - there is no restrictions!

Towns

If a Blue (Innocent) Player gets attacked by another Player (no matter if Blue or Red) in a town he can call the Guards by typing "guards" in the game. The
Town Guards will instantly show up and kill the attacker. Often the Guards will show up without anyone calling them if such an attack happens.
However if a Blue (Innocent) Player attacks a Criminal (Red or Grey) Player in a town no Guards will show up, no matter who is calling for them. Also the attacked
Player can obviously defend himself!

Criminals (Red or Grey)

Criminal Players can get attacked anywhere in Felucca, including towns. Of course they can defend themselves!

Stealing and Snooping

Stealing and Snooping, no matter if Stealing from Players, Snooping in Player Backpacks, Stealing from NPC's, Snooping in NPC Backpacks or Stealing Stealables
can turn a Player grey. This means you can get attacked and no guards will help you.

Turning Grey

There are other situations that turn you grey. This has the same effect as Stealing and Snooping then (see there).

Felucca and Felucca Ruleset Areas

You can check if an area is Felucca or works with the Felucca Ruleset in the Moongate Options. Also gates opened by Players are red and in Felucca your
Mouse Cursor will be silver, in Trammel it is golden.

The following Areas operate with the Felucca Ruleset and therefore include Nonconsensual PvP and all described rules and effects:

Felucca

Felucca

All Regions in Felucca. This includes the classic lands with towns like Britain, Vesper and so on and aswell all the Dungeons with Champion Spawns.

Felucca Ruleset

Ter Mur
Underworld
Stygian Abyss Dungeon
Lost Lands (T2A) Delucia and Papua Felucca
Valley of Eodon
Ilshenar
Ancient Cove (High Seas)
Corgul's Island (High Seas)
ToT Ankh Dungeon (Ilshenar)

Looting

If you get killed in Felucca and a Felucca Ruleset Area you can get looted. This means everything on your Character or in your backpack that is not
Insured or Blessed can be taken from your corpse. If you die, try to get to the next safe Ankh, Healer or Corpse Stone to get resurrected. Corpse Stones
can also transport your Corpse to your location to take back your stuff quickly.
Note that Blue Healers will not resurrect Criminal Players!
While [Young Players] can get killed in these areas they cannot be looted.

Insurance

If you are a [Young Player] you don't have to insure your stuff. If you are not [Young] anymore you have to insure all your gear and items. Insured items
cannot be looted. There are several items like bags or Powerscrolls (they are Cursed) that can't be insured.
To insure your items open the Insurance Menu by one-clicking your Character, then check all the boxes next to your listed items. Also enable the box at the top
that says "Auto Reinsure". This will make sure that after your death all your items will automatically reinsured.
At the bottom you can see how many deaths are payable with your current gold. If you die, the resulting amount of gold will be taken from your bank account!
Then your stuff has to be insured again - this works automatically if you activated "Auto Reinsure" at the top.
After insuring your items press OK and OK to confirm. The first gold will then be paid.

Blessed

You can also bless your items with Item Bless Deeds and Clothing Bless Deeds. You can obtain Item Bless Deeds in the Donation Store or Pandora Coin Store, where
you can also find Clothing Bless Deeds.
Blessed Items work like insured items but you don't have to pay any gold after your death. They will simply stay with and on you.
To bless an item that was previously insured open the Insurance Menu and "uninsure" the item, then apply the Deed. You apply the Deed by double-clicking it, then
target the item you want to bless and click again. It will now say "Blessed".

Criminals

Criminals are Red or Grey Players. You can turn grey as described before. Red Players though are "Murderers", which means they have killed several other Players. There are
some restrictions and "punishments" for Murderers.

Becoming Red (Murderer)

Killing several Players makes you a Murderer and you become Red. With this moment you become subject to several restrictions described later on.
When killing another Player the Attacker loses Karma.

Reporting a Murderer

After a Player killed another Blue Player (not allied or guilded) the victim will receive a gump with the option to report the Killer as a "Murderer".

Murder Counts

If a Player has been reported as a Murderer he will receive a "Short Term Murder Count" that will last for 8 hours and a "Long Term Murder Count" that will go
away after 40 hours of playtime.
If you received 5 "Long Term Murder Counts" you become a "Murderer"/Criminal and become Red, your name changes into a Red Color.
You can check your current status by typing [pvpstats and target yourself or typing [mystats ingame.

Restrictions

There are several Restrictions for Red Players (Criminals, Murderers) in place:

- You cannot call any Town Guards to your defense
- You can get attacked anywhere, including Trammel and Towns with a few exceptions like Luna, several Event Areas and so on
- You can get looted legally, anywhere
- People who heal and resurrect you become grey
- Your pets are also Red with the same restrictions of being attackable
- While you can use Virtues like Valor or Honor it takes longer to gain these and goes faster to lose these

Faction PvP

Faction PvP means that Players can belong to different Factions that are enemies to each other. Your current Faction will be shown in your name. Members of
enemy factions will see each other with orange names instead of blue, red or green (for Alliance and Guild). Enemy Faction members can attack each other anywhere
without any restrictions except for towns like Luna and certain Event Areas and so on.

There are the following Factions to choose from:
Order, Chaos, Exile

Based on your Faction your PvP Title (see below) will change differently when getting Rank.

Choosing a Faction is OPTIONAL and decision of a Guild Leader. Of course this has to be talked about as you make yourself targets for other Factions than your own!
If a Guild Leader chooses a Faction all Guild Members will be part of this. You can form Alliances between "factioned" and "non factioned" guilds. The factioned guilds
must belong to the same Faction though.

Guild Wars

Guilds that are not allied can be at War with each other. To declare a War you use the Guild Roster and Menu to declare it, set certain conditions and wait for the
"enemy Guild" to decline or accept.

Until the time is up members of the warring guilds can attack each other anywhere with the usual restrictions.

Field PvP

Basic Infos

Field PvP is, as described, the serious PvP in Felucca and to an extend Trammel (attacking Reds, Guild Wars, Factions and so on) that can happen anywhere with the
described restrictions. Dying means you lose Insurance and can lose everything that is not blessed or insured (and not stored in your bank) because your corpse can
be looted.
You can gain PvP Coins and Points if you win a fight - the losing party will lose points.

While there are game mechanical rules as to what is allowed (as described) there is no rule whatsoever restricting the way PvP is done in Field PvP:
You may overwhelm other players with superior numbers, you may "gank" players this way or just by being better geared and experienced. Some even use pets in PvP, others
will sneak up on you and assassinate you or do surprise attacks. This can happen anywhere, including Champion Spawns to steal your gold and possible Powerscrolls.

PvP Ranking and PvP Titles

If you win a fight and it's declared as a "pure win" by the system you receive Points. If you lose and die you lose Points. You can check your current Points and
the ones of other Players by typing [pvpstats in the game, target and click yourself or another Player. There you also see how many points you still need until your
next Rank and who killed you last and who has been killed last by you. The same goes for other Player's PvP Stats.

You can gain PvP Ranking, Points and therefore Titles everytime you kill another Player in Felucca or in a Felucca Ruleset Area, in Trammel if you killed a Red
or Grey Player and also during Guild Wars or fights between enemy Factions.

The more Pure Wins (Points) you have, the higher you raise in the PvP Ranking. You receive PvP Titles along the way. These change everytime you reach a specific amount
of points until you reach the top and cannot gain any more points. But you can always lose points and get degraded to a lower Rank and Title again.
In short: Your points determine your Rank and your Rank is shown as a Title under your name.
If you are member of a Faction you receive different Titles but the amount of points needed stays the same!

List of PvP Titles

This list will go from lowest to highest Rank / Title:

Special Locations

While Field PvP is allowed and possible everywhere with Felucca Rules there are some common places where people sometimes meet to
do Field PvP in a serious but still friendly way - in these cases often times there are certain "gentlemen rules" that apply:
No "Reskilling" (Killing right after someone resurrected), no Looting and so on. Sometimes players form teams.
But these areas are also common where people might settle disputes in a more "permanent" manner or where you often can become the target
of PvP.

These are:

Ilshenar, Spirituality
Eodon, near the Main Gate (S of the village)
Common Random Champ Spawn Locations in the Lost Lands
Primeval Lich Champion Spawn
Ancient Cove
and others

PvP Guide

The following small Guide will not give you "anything there is to know" about how to PvP or any "secret" tactics and strategies, just some
basic and simple hints and tricks, perhaps some ways how to start if you are brand new in PvP and want to test this out.

Introduction

As always: Learning PvP takes time and the best way to do it is by practice in the game. There are several options and places to train without
the risk of losing anything if you fail and die: Duels, Casual PvP Arena, Battles and the Daily Tournament.

Before going into PvP you have to realize and know that everybody can do it. Of course there are several better geared and more experienced
PvPers but they also started at some point and had no idea what they were doing. You always learn, therefore you can never really fail. Even and
especially when losing a fight you can learn something: What happened there, what did I do wrong, how did he do that?
Don't let anyone provoke you, don't react to "shittalk" after you lost a fight - this can happen, move on. Don't shittalk or provoke anyone if
you won a fight, next time it could be you who gets killed.
Look at PvP as a fun addition to the game. Don't cause grief and discourage others, because you could be next.

There will also be Players who might feel threatened by you after you killed their Character. They might say stupid things or tell you that you will
be responsible if they quit the game. As long as you didn't break any rules or harrassed them by reskilling them over and over, it's not your fault:
PvP is part of the game and a legit play style like any other.

Learning PvP

It takes Time

Learning PvP is a process that takes time. In fact you never stop learning. After fighting another Player you might realize that he used a technique or
"combo" that you never thought of. Then try it out next time! Even when and especially after losing a fight there might be some things you did wrong and can
try to do better next time.

Training

You can use the Duels to specifically challenge Players you want to learn from or see how they deal with things. The same goes for the Casual PvP Arena. Since
you don't lose anything there these are the perfect places and options to train.
When training with other Players don't be afraid to ask how they did a specific thing or combo or what they think of your ideas. Just test everything what you can
think of, also "existing" tactics and combos. There is nothing to lose but tons to gain!

Field PvP

There is no reason not to try out Field PvP with all the involved risks early on. Better to jump into the cold water than waiting and waiting for the right moment.
The right moment is now!
You can arrange for specific meeting place with other players or just jump into it. You might lose and die but this is part of it. Getting used to that is your first
step and you lose your fear pretty fast - especially after your first wins. And those will happen.
But remember: Everyone can lose and die. There are no exceptions!

Basics

There are some "ground rules" and tactics you should know, mostly for Field PvP but some can of course be applied to any type of PvP.

Positioning

It does not matter if it's in a Duel or Field PvP with possible multiple participants on different sides:
Positioning is always important.
Make sure you are in the best spot to land a specific attack or be able to get away from a threatening situation. If you are in a team and
you are using a Ranged Wep or are a Pure Mage, then you don't want to be in the front line. If you know you can take the damage now and use
Melee then you have to protect those who are weaker or in a weak spot at the moment.
If you can expect your opponent to land a heavy attack any second, move away and get some distance.
Get into the best position to achieve your goals.

Damage

Your main goal is to cause as much damage as possible in the shortest possible amount of time.
This means you have to use heavy attacks and spells and be very fast. You don't want your opponent to be able to heal through after
your initial attacks because this means you have to start over.
Use strong combos of Spells and Attacks to achieve this goal. Don't forget that your opponent will try the same!

Healing and Crosshealing

It is very important that you are always ready to heal yourself. While attacking your opponent be ready to receive damage - because why
should he wait for you to deal damage and do nothing about it? If he lands a strong counter attack and seems to get the upper hand, then
try to get some distance for your bandies, healing spells or potions to kick in. He might come after you, so you have to be fast. The moment
you are fully healed or have enough health back go back to the offense.
Crosshealing is a special technique of healing in a teamfight:
You're not only healing yourself (if necessary) but also your teammates. Keep an eye on the health bars! Cure poison if necessary and heal them,
remove Mortal Strikes and other debuffs from your teammates as they will do the same for you. Make them invisible if necessary. There are many things
you can do for your team to keep everybody alive.

Debuffs and Poison

While dealing as much damage as possible you have to keep your opponent busy:
Keep poisoning him, use Debuffs on him, especially Curse. Use Mortal Strike if possible. He has to take care of these things. Every second
he is busy targeting himself means you have the time to either heal yourself or - better - use the time to cause more damage.
Keep in mind that he will try to do the same. You have to be faster and expect it.

Expect what your Opponent will do

When fighting another Player there is the chance to expect certain tactics in PvP. First of all keep in mind that he will do all these things
described earlier the same way you will try. So you know what to expect. He will try to deal as much damage as possible in a short time. He will
keep you Cursed and use everything at his disposal - like you will do.
If your opponent has a specific weapon in his hands, then you can expect the Special Moves being used against you. So you know when there is the
chance you will receive a ton of damage from a Crushing Blow or Armor Ignore or when you can expect to receive Mortal Strikes. So you can prepare.
Expect heavy spell damage coming your way when fighting a Pure Mage, but also know that he will do everything he can to stay far away from your
Melee Damage.

Running

If you are getting overwhelmed by higher numbers or a "superior Player" there is no shame in trying to keep some Distance to heal yourself and prepare
a counter attack. Sometimes when you can expect to lose a fight cause of "Superiority" or higher numbers then you might want to run away, hide and recall.
It feels stupid but why go into a lost battle?
But before you run away from a fight ask yourself: Is this really lost? Is there a way to work around this?

Combos

Combos are combinations of Special Moves, Spells and other types of Attack. While you can't cast and attack the same time you can very well use a Special Move
and then cast a spell and the other way around. Or you use a combo of two spells or two Special Moves, followed by more Spells, Attacks and Combos. There are
endless possibilities. Try to experiment and train them!
This section will only cover very few common combos. Learn and train them:

Explosion + Flamestrike
Explosion + Energy Bolt
Energy Bolt + Flamestrike
Poison + Fireball + Poison
Corpse Skin + Fireball Spam
Corpse Skin + Explosion + Flamestrike
Evil Omen + any Spell
Curse + Clumsy + Weaken + Poison
Magic Arrow + Fireball + Harm (when closer)
Mortal Strike + Poison
Curse + Mortal Strike
Mortal Strike + Explosion + Flamestrike
Mortal Strike + Armor Ignore
Paralyze + Explosion + Flamestrike + Fireball
and other combos of these

There are many many more. Just experiment!

Potions and Enchanted Apples in PvP

Using Potions in PvP is a really helpful thing once you decide to do so. This is optional but recommendable.
You can use Greater Heal Potions, Greater Refreshment Potions and Mana Potions if needed. Keep in mind that
Heal and Mana Potions have timers!
Also be aware that if a Weapon doesn't have the property "Balanced" (imbuable on Ranged Weapons) you will
have to disarm yourself before chugging a Potion.
You can also use Greater Conflagration Potions against your opponent. They also have a timer.
Against Debuffs such as Curse and Mortal Strike use Enchanted Apples. They also have a timer, so sometimes you have to rely on
"Remove Curse" to remove these debuffs!

Pets in PvP

Of course you could use a pet in PvP. Some can cause good damage to Players, others could tank some damage and
protect you.
Same time it can be a problem using a pet in PvP:
In the heat of battle you could "lose" it. You can't really lose your pet but it could start chasing a player, get
stuck somewhere or suddenly start to attack monsters in the area. You don't have the time to take care of your pet
while in a PvP situation.

Melee and Ranged Weapons

It depends on the situation if you use a Melee Weapon or a Ranged Weapon. If you are in a team some might want to use
Ranged Weapons and stay in second line, while others use Melee Weapons. A Ranged Weapon like a Composite Bow for example
is perfect when chasing someone as it has Moving Shot. But in close combat with no chance of keeping distance a Melee Weapon
will be the better choice and also deal more damage long term.
As a Pure Mage when facing an opponent with a Ranged Weapon you should use a Shield, preferably the "Arrow Breaker" to parry these
attacks while casting your spells. You could try to disarm your opponent of course.
When fighting a Pure Mage you should switch to a Melee Weapon whenever possible and lower the distance to him. Threaten him with high
Melee Damage and cause this Damage.

Bushido or Shield

If you are using a Shield you are able to parry Ranged Attacks while using Bushido (without a Shield!) enables you to use Evasion to evade
spells. Also you will parry with your weapon.
Since Bushido offers some more techniques it is recommended. A Shield certainly helps you to keep up your Stats and parry against Archers.
In the end it is what you will prefer.
A Pure Mage uses a Spellbook and a Shield - no Bushido.

Weapons

To find out more about Weapon Abilities (Special Moves), Bushido and Ninjitsu read here: WeaponAbilities

In theory every weapon has its advantages and disadvantages in PvP. While using a weapon with Whirlwind might be a bad idea, unless you are
surrounded by multiple pets for example, almost any other Special Move has its value. Certainly weapons with Mortal Strike, Armor Ignore,
Crushing Blow, Bleed Attack and Disarm should be at your disposal.
Disarming an opponent can surely destroy his strategy!
Also you can use some Ninjitsu and Bushido Spells with a weapon: Focus Attack, Death Strike and Ki Attack for example.

Teleport

Whenever chasing someone or being chased, casting Teleport can change a situation completely. Have this as a Hotkey or Macro.

Macros in PvP

While there are certainly Macros that are very helpful in PvP to keep you alive or use certain combos, be advised not to use any full automatic Macros
in PvP. This makes you unflexible and it takes more time to react to changing conditions and specific attacks.
Use Hotkeys as often as possible. Make keys for Targeting and Attacking, Spells, Special Moves and everything else.

This was just a very very short and basic introduction - but perhaps it can help you getting started in PvP!
